Anyone else excited for steamos
For anyone who doesn't know steamos is in the beta stage right now, YouTubers and tech guys are playing around with it a lot. From what we know so far, there is third-party beta versions available, and it can use the things like CC Plusplus redistribute, as well as having a Windows version. Yes the beta is for third-party devices, not just for steam deck. I am absolutely sick of windows, and before we have some sort of 2-hour crash denier, the blue screen simulator has been hailed as just that, not just by the community who is forced to use it, not just by the programmers who are forced to work with it, but also by the Microsoft employees and the Microsoft spokespersons, and the windows spokesperson's themselves. Now one might say that Microsoft spokespersons and windows spokespersons are the same thing, but they're not, even though it's the same company they do have separate spokespersons. Which should give you pretty much of a clue of just how stupid these past few years have been. Green screen simulator 7, it was far better than anything that came out after it, blue screen simulator 10 was okay, compared to Windows 11, obviously, especially after they stopped f****** with 10 and started f****** with 11. Unfortunately modders just seem only willing to code in such a way that for whatever reason Windows 11 is required. So I can't wait for the steam os, specifically the version that's basically a Windows replacement.

Everything steam has done has been masterful, and their whole reason for making the steam OS was because steam saw, specifically Gabe newell, saw just how f****** terrible Windows 8 was, and he felt that windows need a competitor otherwise you're going to continue doing terrible and making terrible decisions. The thought process behind steamos is there, the performance has tested so far, has shown promising results, and who knows maybe in the future I will comment on this post with an update to let you know how it's actually working when it comes out of the beta stage.

For reference, I am not having a hardware issues, the softwares that I'm using, are not having issues, just Windows 11 itself is the one having the issue. Whether I fully update things, because that's the only option or not common and when you don't fully update Windows 11, it doesn't just crash, it full on needs a reboot boot up startup. So yeah we're all stuck together updating a software that we all hate.

Also an unrelated note, why the f*** are we still on Wizard 7? Wizard you know that old zip file opener that is 15 years out of date? Yeah that's what Windows 11 comes with standard. I use seven zip, because it actually works, it has more than the capability to just open zip files, can decrypt things, it can reorganize file processes, and it can also convert files, so things like PDF and other stuff are also very much usable. Takes half the amount of data in space on your hard drive by the way. Just small f****** complaint. If anyone is not familiar with seven zip you can feel free to comment about that too, and I won't try to find you a link to it,

SteamOS has been out for quite a while now.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SteamOS

SteamOS 1.0 and 2.0 have been available since 2013 and 2014. SteamOS 1.0 was the Beta and SteamOS 2.0 was the release.

Both are based on Debian.

SteamOS 3.0 was release for and with the Steam Deck. There have been rumors of a PC release on it's way as well, but so far it seems geared for handhelds like the Steam Deck and Lenovo's Legion Go S.

It is based on Arch Linux.

As for "Wizard 7", I never used it. I always downloaded 7zip right off the bat, as soon as I get internet access on any Windows OS.

not really, Steam has the worst customer service I have ever encountered in my life and they openly break consumer laws in my country so the idea of running an operating system they made is very unappealing.

Why would I be excited for something that's been out for a decade, and I don't care about anyway?

So have you reported the infractions, or are you just blowing smoke on a gaming forum trying to sound important?

If you believe they're breaking consumer laws in your country, get a lawyer, make a case and take them to court. Believe it or not, but Valve have had to actively change their own ToS and service in the past because of conflicts with consumer law in other countries, like Australia for example.

Trying to equate someone not wanting to use a certain operating system as “trying to sound important” seems like a bit of stretch. There is no reason to get aggressive just because I won’t use Steamos. As for the customer support, yes I absolutely have reported the “infractions” and have a long history of receiving little to no support from steam. Playing games on a platform for convenience is one thing but running my entire OS through a company that continuously demonstrates incompetence sounds risky at best.

That's good to note, then I'm excited for steamos3 then.

SteamOS doesn't offer anything different than what any other Linux distro currently offers.

From what I've seen, Bazzite works better than SteamOS on most devices.

If you want to use Linux, just use it. The rumors of it's difficulty are overblown.
ReBoot 24 Jun @ 10:39pm
I've been using SteamOS for a few years now. Not gonna pretend it was something new.

I'll gladly use it once all the companies allow anticheat to work correctly and if EA stop being annoying and allow the use of their games on linux.

No. You are trying to sound important by saying that Valve has violated all these consumer laws in your country (without listing a single one) as some sort of win or validation for your argument.

And, of course, the answer is no, you have not reported any of these violations, thus reinforcing the point that you are just blowing smoke on a gaming forum.
(Hint: telling the criminal that they are committing a crime won't get you very far.)

You don't want to use SteamOS. Good for you. I don't either. The difference is that I don't need to spin tales to validate my viewpoint.

Dude if you want to be a part of the conversation, cool, read the comments. We've already established that steamos one and two are old. We've already figured out that steamos 3 is the new one. Either get on the same page, or just don't join the conversation. Doing anything else, makes you look like an a******.

Oh I have a solution for you. So, not all EA games work with proton, but some do. Star wars battlefront 2 for example. You can use Linux and play BF2 with proton.
