Gifting from Japan
Dear Steam,

For the past year or so it has become impossible to gift games from Japan to friends abroad.
I realize that's caused by yen's (currency) low value, but it's a bit frustrating, to be honest. The only way to gift something to friends is by buying it on 3rd party websites and sharing a code. I'm sure you are aware of potential risks of that, and I'm also sure you are not happy about the revenue loss on your platform.

I suppose we all want yen to go back where it was, but currently due to the Japanese government's lack of action, I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Given this, I can't help but wonder, is anyone at Valve looking into this, or is the problem just being ignored? Or, not considered a problem at all...

There's also digital gift cards.

Exactly nothing will happen though. This has been going on for years, people have been complaining for years and there's not much you can do about this.

Even when the yen does finally stabilise to the endaka end of the scale, you won't be able to gift; the difference will simply be to much the other way around. While the yen is weak according to people using other currencies, the prices set by publishers are still high in regards to local worth, and those prices won't change as the yen gains value.
As mentioned, do what I do and gift digital gift cards. This removes the need for worrying about gifting cross region.
