STEAM SUPPORT
Steam support is single handily one of the WORST support groups out there, keep in mind this is a company bringing in over 10 BILLION A YEAR. Yet there is no call center, live chats, or even quick responses for their ONLY source of help, "tickets". I'm not sure about some of you guys but in my head "tickets" should really only be a thing in discord servers lol not for a multi billion $ company. By no means am I saying in the end they won't do anything about whatever situation is at hand but by no means is there any hustle to it. I recently made a purchase with steam for a CS GO 2 Knife, it was my mistake but I meant to buy it with a different card ( purchased using PayPal another company with even worse support ), I ended up refunding the charge and the item was taken out of my inventory and given back to the private seller. My plan was to then repurchase it with the right card this time... lol... and this is the message steam sent to me about the situation - "Content purchased with these wallet funds has been removed from your account.
This account is now restricted due to excessive charge backs.
If the dispute is reversed by your payment provider, this restriction will be lifted and the content will be returned to your account. " So I then decided to do what they said and tried literally everything I was told by Steam and PayPal to resolve the situation, but PayPal was less than helpful and Steams only solution they provided me with was to have PayPal reverse the charge back which wouldn't work for a number of reasons. Steam then decides to tell me that my "ticket" will be updated when they have more information, WHAT MORE INFO IS THERE SMH. All in all if your somehow reading this Steam, PLEASE for the love of god PLEASE put some more time and attention into your "support" as this is not the only time I've felt that the whole process could be 10x easier and the wide range of customers that probably experience very similar things would thank you forever.

There's a reason the things "in your head" have kept you from creating a successful billion dollar company.

You screwed yourself, thats entirely on you, not on anyone else. YOU started the chargeback process. The consequences of it are entirely on you.

I mean, I hate to agree with Flux there, but you screwed yourself.

You did a charge back. That costs Valve money. The money from the refund, plus charge back fees.

They are quite clear on what happens when you do such things.

Valve doesn't make 10 billion a year.

And PayPal doesn't reverse chargebacks.

Your going around saying anything negative you can to every post you come across, get a life. As I stated I know its my fault, but that wasn't the focus of the post, it's simply to talk about how when mistakes are made Steam lacks in being quick to help you fix it. Hope you have a good rest of your day, seems like you could use it.

Go look at what the IRS said they filed for taxes last year... 10.7 Billion lol. And ill say it again, I am aware none of this would have happened if I didnt make a mistake to begin with, but every other company I can think of would be 10x quicker to help get it resolved, especially as I stated I planned on buying the knife anyways and told them I don't care about additional fees.
Why would they be expected to clean up your mess?

You want someone to take care of you go cry to your parents

You mean to do their job? The job that pays their bills? Crazy.

Sadly, it's on you and Paypal. Valve/Steam can do nothing more.

Unless you can convince Paypal to reverse the chargeback, good luck since that's how they make a lot of their money, the restriction remains for that Paypal account.

Thankfully, it's only that payment method that is now permanently banned, and the restriction isn't forever.

Again, there's nothing support can help with. It's purely on you and Paypal.

No, thats NOT their job. Cleaning up your mess is YOUR job

Any suggestions on what to do? Or possibly any info on how long my steam account will be restricted?
Typically a month, 4 weeks for first offense. Payment method that the chargeback was applied to, is permanently revoked though.

Just get Steam gift cards and add them to your wallet. I mean digital or physical ones.

Isnt marketplace purchases non refundable? In this situation you should have sold it back when it cleared the non sellable period. But yeah next time double check or even triple check your purchases, Its unfortunate youre screwed on this one but lesson learned.

SLG, what do you mean? For future or to pay for the chargeback? And if you mean to pay for the charge back how would that work? Just make sure I have enough $ in my wallet and then ask steam to charge me for it?
