Steam Country Changing
Hey all,

I have a question regarding Steam's country change policy. I read on the official FAQ that you can only change your store country "once every 3 months", but I want to understand exactly how Steam calculates that.

My situation:
- I went to Denmark and made my first Denmark purchase there and my store region changed to Denmark: March 30, 2025
- I then returned back to my country Azerbaijan
- I am now trying to change my Steam store country back to Azerbaijan
- It is now June 27, 2025

Now the question is: does Steam calculate the "3 months" in terms of:
- Exactly 90 days (this would mean I can request to change back to Azerbaijan on June 28, 2025), or
- 3 calendar months (this would mean I can request to change back to Azerbaijan on June 30, 2025)

I have read Steam's official documentation and they only say to wait "3 months" - no mention of what time-frame they use. I have also seen some people mention 90 days, but I am not sure if that is related to the region lock for games or a country change cooldown.

Here is an important note: I made more purchases in Denmark after March 30th, however, from my understanding the Steam's official FAQ does not mention purchases within a region start the cooldown timer again. Therefore, from the FAQ it appears the countdown still started at my first purchase on March 30, 2025. Has anyone here in this forum changed their Steam country lately and can speak to which time-frame calculation method Steam is using? Thank you for your help.

It should be calculated as 90 days from the day the region was changed. So try on the 28th. If it doesn't work, then Valve have updated their system to actually count calendar months. The counter shouldn't reset if you make additional purchases, only with each change made to the store region.

So if it doesn't work on July 28, I have to try on July 30. Anything else I should know?

Its 90 days from the moment of the switch. Its literally down to the second.
So if you switched ot 11.34 and 12 seconds , 90 days later at 11.34 and 12 seconds you can switch again.

Alright, I have an extra question. The first purchase I made in Denmark was on 30 March 2025, depositing 10€ to my account, last purchase I made was trading cards using my steam wallet on April 23rd. My question is does any purchase made I made within a region (in my case, Denmark) resets my country change cooldown time?

No. The only purchase that counts is the one that makes the switch to the new region.
From that moment the 90 days start.

Thank you so so much! I have been looking for a clear answer for some time, and by the way, I really like your profile :)
