The trading card was just the carrot at the end of the stick to train people to do a thing.
Might be that's again the intent.
You guys complaining about this, don't understand is, the bigger Steam gets, the less they are going to do these things, until they don't do them at all.
No.
The Two Major Sales which had cards always had them as far as i can remember.
We only can hope that Valve comes to its sense and removes the cards completely out of the system, and not just no card drops for sales.
Then why are you collecting cards in the first place ?
Having to find or trade them is what makes it fun. Collecting badges can be pretty fun too. But you know that with your 114 badges.
I'm not whining because they take something free away from me. This is so condescending of you to have that kind of thought in the first place...
I'm disappointed because I was used to and liked it. Because the new stuff, wich is also free by the way, is, in my opinion, lame and, mostly, nearly useless in its current shape.
Plus, you know exactly what you have... You don't get the little thrill of the random rewards.
And, what's the point in giving some cards to people when they're buying games if they don't have enough of them to make at least one badge (out of luck or after trading).
Most of us won't spend 100$ during those sales and most of us won't be willing to buy the missing cards.
Anyway. If you don't care bout it, good for you, and be free to express your opinion. But please, don't act like a freaking Internet Clown.
I also don't see how this stuff is more "fun", no. It's a sale, it's about the discounts, that's what matters to me. And yes, the people whining in my opinion are just whining that they're not getting the free stuff they want. It's entitlement of the first degree.
No need to project so heavily with your last sentence, btw. You don't have to talk about yourself like that, come on, be a bit more supportive to yourself. You're ok as you are, love.
While I get your point, I'm not sure about its relevance...
I MIGHT BE WRONG, but it seems too simple to me.
I mean,10 years ago, Steam was already big in the game. Every PC gamers knew about them.
They nearly had a monopole on dematerialised games. There was no real concurrence.
EPIC wasn't even a thing. EA and co neither.
But they did it. And people liked it. Events were fun and quite engaging too. I remember coming everyday on the store page to do some missions.
If concurrence is really a thing for Steam, then we might currently be at its peak.
If cards were some carrots, I think they would be needed now more than ever.
But I'm far from being an insider, so this is just my thought on the subject.
