What if Roblox was made on Steam ?
I couldn't find a better forum to post this on so if you have a better forum just tell me.

I have been playing Roblox and Steam for a while. Both are gaming websites and are unique in their own way. But yet both are so similar. Steam was published in 2003 and Roblox came out in 2006 yet was in "development" since 2004. It could of been entirely possible for Roblox to make its way to Steam but I just feel like since Steam wasn't that popular and Roblox was a whole different "kids gaming platform" It wouldn't make reality.

But lets say we don't care and Roblox is made and only available on Steam, I would have so many questions, and this would alter the timeline for both gaming platforms and basically rewrite gaming history. (kind of.)

If Roblox was made on Steam I feel like that "online building toy" and "free online game" would not really hit Roblox. I also know that its playerbase would be way for small as Steam isn't in the average Roblox age group. I feel like creating an account would also be useless as it will just link your Steam account. Profiles would also hugely change too. I do feel like Roblox would evolve more quickly though in terms of quality and graphics but would basically be invisible to the average 12 yr old.

What do you think?

I think when you're imagining alternate history, it's still fiction and fiction can be whatever you want.

When you say "made on Steam" is Valve making Roblox, or do you not understand that Steam is a store, not a game development environment.

Games are sold on Steam, they're not made on Steam.

Selling Roblox on Steam wouldn't destroy the product. It could be sold on other platforms, and lots of publishers have their own launchers...

So realistcally, not much changes if it's just sold on Steam.

Roblox wants to receive 100% of their sales. They don't want to split that with any company.

Same goes for Minecraft.

Why does Roblox need Steam?

In the alternate timeline the CEO was involved very serious and very expensive sex scandal. And Valve bailed them out to the tune of 50.1% of their company. In that timeline Steam is owned by WaGabeN, bad GabeN. No relation to Wario or WaLuigi, although they are real people there.
I think that it's a lot of "if" you're talking about, OP.

That would be called the Off Topic forum.
thank you for all your replies :> I did not write this the best but still
Roblox is already available for Android, iPhone/iPad, as well as Windows PCs, no Steam needed or involved,

I think it is a stupid idea to have Roblox on Steam, as they will then need to share their revenue with Steam/Valve too. So, really, REALLY stupid idea here, sorry.
Try better next time!
