And Perfect Dark was already in production hell.
While reboots/rrmakes can be dun, with older ip's it can be difficult to keep the same "feel".
To me sometimes it's better to start something new instead if rehashing old ip's.

As the old saying goes, “Members may come and members may go but the company can go on forever.”
Personally I am more then a tad bit disappointed. I really wanted this spiritual successor, and for it to be true to the original. With all of the fun gadgets and guns the developer was known for. To be blunt this was the first shooter in a long time that had me interested in shooters. I really don't care for the military shooter genre. It seems Call of Duty wins yet again though.
Thr hyperbole is real.
The downplaying is real. What's going on right now. Is more then a little tweaking. The industry is contracting rather then expanding, and yeah it is severe enough to be called a crash. That does not mean the industry is ending. It means the bubble has burst, and folks are taking a bath. This is Microsoft limiting its exposure, and getting out ahead of it.
Also, there has been quite a bit of job loss going on lately... from around all the industries I know people from, to think of it...
Would have been DOA anyway.
