It's not the first time moderators deleted harmless discussions. One discussion where I recommended Zortch to somebody was deleted for no good reason. Another discussion asking about why old posts from their post history disappear was also deleted for no good reason.

I think it might derail into talking about dating... and we all know where that train goes...

I suggest you don’t jinx it.

I was banned for discussing the gaming community in the Steam Community forums, because it was "off topic."

I asked which forum it should have been it, and they told me, "The game's forum." When I pointed out it wasn't about a specific game, they begrudgingly lifted the ban, "as a gesture of goodwill," making sure to tell me that it was still off topic.

Whomever Steam outsourced moderation too, they need to reassess their choice.

You need to do that before you start posting in a forum.

Generally, forums will have pinned threads and/or descriptions for what each section is for. Good idea to read those first.

From what I recall seeing, and from what is still in your post history, you should be posting threads in Off Topic or Steam Community.

I will say from a personal standpoint I would have removed it as well. A developer would not want a topic to come back to them regarding "This person was in danger because they posted personal information in this topic regarding people met in real life on your forum". That is in conjunction with what was stated regarding it being off-topic as it would have very little, if anything, to do with the game.

The topic was off topic. Moderators have the choice of moving, locking, deleting. Seems they chose to delete in this case. Technically, this topic is also off topic, so don't be surprised if this too is locked or deleted.

Define "off topic". None of the forums have descriptions and could mean anything. Also they should just move topics instead of deleting them.
