not all questions are a call for help....
I am asking... do servers really need to be shut down or is it bad management..
If there's not enough people using them and the business cannot justify the cost of of running them, then yes, they can be shut down.
Most multiplayer games offer server hosting through 3rd party sites, like GPortal or just players themselves.
you seem to be making up excuses
for reasons i know not.......
why cant a server run for a lifetime... seems like bad management...
any facts around...
Perhaps a game gets its server hosting through a 3rd party too? That costs money. Servers also need maintenance, also costing money.
its not like its not something new... why cant there be a universal server system
always operational for everything......
Imagine this analogy.
Wehn a contractor wants to build new housings or whatever they often have to demolish what was there before...
NOTHING is forever...
And servers cost. ALOT. If they don't think it's viable from an economic viewpoint then they simply shut it down to save money...
are you sure we are not getting ripped off into thinking the prices are higher than what they are..
i think it is bad management that is the problem and not the servers at all..
So you think, but do you have any insight into where this thinking of yours comes from?
Why would I know this? I'm not a game company that has servers to run.
you dont need to participate..... why are you here on this post..
All I'm asking is where you got the idea that this is all just bad management? What makes you think servers don't cost anything to run? How do you think we're being ripped off?
you start off projecting... that i am having trouble with a server...
you make people out to be wrong from the start..... not a good skill on your behalf ...
So you don't want to answer the questions I just posed to you in my previous comment?
It is not about the server cost, but msintaining the whole thing, be it the hardware of it or the software with which it runs/which runs on it.
You can not just start the thing, set it up and then forget about it thinking that some little faires do the rest.
if you cant help me with answers then my question dont need you to question them further...
its very odd what you do... you are trying to make me the fault when its your interaction that lacks the understanding of the other person....
