Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon was simply one of the missing games in my Far Cry collection, and I originally purchased it here to add it to my Ubisoft account.
Later on, I decided to buy all my games on Steam to complete my collection on this platform instead.
Right now, I’ve already re-purchased all the other Far Cry games on Steam and linked them to my new Ubisoft account—this is the only game missing from my collection because of this issue.
So no, this isn’t about "impulse control." It’s about organizing my game library properly.
Next time, I’d suggest thinking twice before jumping to conclusions.
I just wanted to make sure I’ve tried everything before accepting it.
Thanks for clarifying though.
Games cannot be permanently removed from Steam accounts unless you refund them within the 2 hour/2 week restriction.
Even then they are not permanently removed, as the underlying key which was tied to the account will be kept for the game.
This. Should you opt to rebuy the game in future, you're getting the exact same license that you originally paid for.
If you refund a digital version, all that happens is you can't download it or play it again, but it is still tied to your account.
Really? I’m pretty sure i’ve done it once
More importantly, Steam doesn't handle any kind of account linking. That's always done from the other end.
Which makes sense, to be fair. Permanently removing a game does not, after all, actually remove the license.
When you refund a game and then re-buy it, the "copy" of the game you have access to is exactly the same as if you simply uninstalled and reinstalled the game. The only thing unique to your specific purchase of a game is... you. And as long as it's the same "you" (as in, SteamID) buying the game, there's no observable difference between the state after the first purchase compared to after the refund and the second purchase.
See? this is why I hate needing multiple accounts just to play a game I bought on Steam. This whole "linking" thing is an issue.
Let the Steam versions play with Steam and if you get the game through Ubsisoft's website, you would have to sign in and play it through there.
I know "but its ubisoft game and Steam is the app" blah blah blah, I get it. Just saying it sucks and as people can see, it makes it hard just to have it set up the way you want.
Jumping through hoops just to get help and etc and sucks you re-bought all the games on Steam. But as long as you have the main games Far Cry 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, you don't really need to bother with Blood Dragon (I know it's about the collection but just focus on the numbered ones)
Far Cry Primal and Blood Dragon are nice but aren't the main ones. That way, you don't feel bad or etc about not having Blood Dragon.
"I accidentally linked *Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon* to the wrong Ubisoft account.
"I purchased this game on Steam, but I mistakenly connected it to my old Ubisoft account. Now I can't play the game with my new Ubisoft account"
Why do you have more than one Ubisoft Account? when did you do this "linking"? why not do what you did to link it in the first place? why didn't you delete that old Email?
I think you can unlink your email from the Ubisoft account, depending on if you can see the list of what accounts your email is linked to.
I think this issue will be on you/Ubisoft to solve cause it's in your/their hands.
