Subject: Request to Permanently Remove Game from My Account (Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon)
Hello Steam Support,

I am contacting you because I accidentally linked *Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon* to the wrong Ubisoft account.
I purchased this game on Steam, but I mistakenly connected it to my old Ubisoft account. Now I can't play the game with my new Ubisoft account.

I already contacted Ubisoft Support regarding this issue, and unfortunately, they told me they cannot transfer the game between accounts, nor can they unlink it.
Here is the reply I received from Ubisoft Support:

---

> "Hello,
> We’re sorry for the delayed response. I understand that you activated your game on a different Ubisoft account and now want to transfer it.
> Unfortunately, we cannot transfer games between Ubisoft accounts. Once a game is activated on a Ubisoft account, it stays permanently linked to it. This also applies to games purchased from Steam or Epic.
> Even if you unlink your Steam account and connect a different Ubisoft account, the game will not transfer, and you will encounter errors when trying to launch it.
> Ubisoft Support cannot merge accounts or transfer games between accounts or platforms.
> We are sorry for any inconvenience. The only suggestion we can offer is to request a refund from Steam, if applicable. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience."

---

Due to this situation, I would kindly like to request **the permanent removal of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon from my Steam library**.
I fully understand that removing the game will prevent me from playing it, and I am fine with that.

👉 My only goal is to remove the game, then repurchase it and link it to the correct Ubisoft account so I can finally play it without issues.
This is the sole reason for my request.

Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

Best regards,

Steam support does not read these forums, and you cannot permanently remove a game so that you can rebuy it. Your only option if Ubisoft cannot unlink it on their end would be to make a new steam account and buy it on that account
Next time have a little better impulse control...
Games cannot be transferred from one Steam account to another. Nor can games be fully removed.

This has nothing to do with "impulse control."
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon was simply one of the missing games in my Far Cry collection, and I originally purchased it here to add it to my Ubisoft account.

Later on, I decided to buy all my games on Steam to complete my collection on this platform instead.
Right now, I’ve already re-purchased all the other Far Cry games on Steam and linked them to my new Ubisoft account—this is the only game missing from my collection because of this issue.

So no, this isn’t about "impulse control." It’s about organizing my game library properly.
Next time, I’d suggest thinking twice before jumping to conclusions.

Yeah, I pretty much figured that would be the only option left at this point.
I just wanted to make sure I’ve tried everything before accepting it.
Thanks for clarifying though.
Yeah. Your best bet is to keep working with Ubisoft. Perhaps ask if there's some way to prove sufficiently to them that you are in fact the owner of both Ubisoft accounts.

Best regards,
The linking is done on Ubisoft's end. They are the only ones who can fix it.

Games cannot be permanently removed from Steam accounts unless you refund them within the 2 hour/2 week restriction.

Even then they are not permanently removed, as the underlying key which was tied to the account will be kept for the game.

This. Should you opt to rebuy the game in future, you're getting the exact same license that you originally paid for.

That's how it has been for a long time, with several storefronts.
If you refund a digital version, all that happens is you can't download it or play it again, but it is still tied to your account.

Really? I’m pretty sure i’ve done it once

More importantly, Steam doesn't handle any kind of account linking. That's always done from the other end.

They changed that at one point, a while back. People started getting the message in the cart that they already own the license.

Which makes sense, to be fair. Permanently removing a game does not, after all, actually remove the license.
There's not some secret "key" that is associated with the copies of any given game you can request to download from Steam. It's just a row in a database that says that player X has package Y, and each package has a list of apps and depots that it grants access to.

When you refund a game and then re-buy it, the "copy" of the game you have access to is exactly the same as if you simply uninstalled and reinstalled the game. The only thing unique to your specific purchase of a game is... you. And as long as it's the same "you" (as in, SteamID) buying the game, there's no observable difference between the state after the first purchase compared to after the refund and the second purchase.

See? this is why I hate needing multiple accounts just to play a game I bought on Steam. This whole "linking" thing is an issue.

Let the Steam versions play with Steam and if you get the game through Ubsisoft's website, you would have to sign in and play it through there.

I know "but its ubisoft game and Steam is the app" blah blah blah, I get it. Just saying it sucks and as people can see, it makes it hard just to have it set up the way you want.

Jumping through hoops just to get help and etc and sucks you re-bought all the games on Steam. But as long as you have the main games Far Cry 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, you don't really need to bother with Blood Dragon (I know it's about the collection but just focus on the numbered ones)

Far Cry Primal and Blood Dragon are nice but aren't the main ones. That way, you don't feel bad or etc about not having Blood Dragon.

"I accidentally linked *Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon* to the wrong Ubisoft account.

"I purchased this game on Steam, but I mistakenly connected it to my old Ubisoft account. Now I can't play the game with my new Ubisoft account"

Why do you have more than one Ubisoft Account? when did you do this "linking"? why not do what you did to link it in the first place? why didn't you delete that old Email?

I think you can unlink your email from the Ubisoft account, depending on if you can see the list of what accounts your email is linked to.

I think this issue will be on you/Ubisoft to solve cause it's in your/their hands.
