When SteamOS is fully ready for PC, Valve any every gaming/tech news site will post about it.

Just install a Linux distribution of your choice instead of waiting for that?

The hype is palpable.

I'm sure we will all be the first to know seeing as we are already on their platform.

I think it would be too risky to use steam OS since it’s an immoral business that breaks consumer laws in many of the countries it does business in.

Steam OS isn’t going to be much different than any other Linux you can find. If you’re new to Linux either use Mint or CachyOS, depending on hardware.

Linux is fairly painless to transition to if you’re used to using your PC in any moderate capacity.

I use Mint and it’s perfectly fine. Any issues you run into can be easily web searched or forum’d for an answer.
