Trouble with trying to get a refund from my wizard 101 subscription
Hello! I bought a wizard 101 subscription about a month ago to play with my buddy not realizing it was a subscription. i thought it was just a one time payment, yesterday the subscription renewed and I just saw it today. I've been trying to request a refund all day today since its within the 48 hour window to request a refund however i keep on getting this message:

Refund: Jul 8 - Wizard101 in-game items - $10.55
We are having a temporary problem communicating with the game's item server. Unfortunately, this prevents us from
being able to continue with your refund request. Please try again later.

does anyone have any suggestions or know the next steps I should take?

Not entirely correct. From the refund FAQ:

Renewable Subscriptions
For some content and services, Steam offers periodic (e.g. monthly, yearly) access that you pay for on a recurring basis. If a renewable subscription has not been used during the current billing cycle, you may request a refund within 48 hours of the initial purchase or within 48 hours of any automatic renewal. Content is considered used if any games within the subscription have been played during the current billing cycle or if any benefits or discounts included with the subscription have been used, consumed, modified or transferred.

Please note that you can cancel an active subscription at any time by going to your account details. Once cancelled, your subscription will no longer automatically renew but you will retain access to the content and benefits of the subscription through the end of your current billing cycle.

OP, you'll have to keep trying your request. Try a manual ticket if you are able.
