USB sticks
can you download games to a USB stiick to install later, rather than installing straight to your hard drive ?

yep. keep it as a downloaded installer but dont install on the usb.

I think that is what I;ve done, I downloaded it, then uninstalled it from the desktop for later, but it still records the game as "sold"

You can also just not install the game right away. As long as you bought it you can download it here whenever you want.
