Steams Downfall!
These big companies like call of duty and battlefield will be the end of steam. Steam is allowing these companies to to destroy games we already paid top dollar for. Call of duty unplayable, battlefield unplayable. why keep wasting money on steam when they cant even stand up for us gamer. They release games then destroy them. Its the digital world of you own nothing and like it.

1. Those are game franchises, not companies.
2. There's thousands more games on Steam, than just CoD & BF.

There's literally thousands of games on Steam that aren't CoD/BF and you are free to buy & play any of those. Your myopia is the downfall here.

Ah, this is another thread where people don't understand just what they've been buying since the dawn of gaming. Your rights as far as games are concerned have not changed since the late 1960s.
I'm out of the loop. What happened to Call of Duty and Battlefield?
I only play free game from now on on steam, if i want to throw money away i just burn it better then giving it to money greedy company's. Digital world you will own nothing and be happy about it.
All of my 3000+ games on commodore64 still work to this day so i don't see why games today cant do the same.

Given that your account is limited, I don't think "only playing free games" is a change from how you were acting previously on your two day old account.

You could, y'know, just stop spending money on CoD & BF. And generally on overpriced, overhyped A releases. But hey, where's the fun in that when there's drama to be had, amirite?
Game company's keep destroying there games after 4 years after you paid over $100 for the game then soon enough the gamer's will sue and steam will be hit hard cause we buy games from steam platform and not from EA or Microsoft so steam company will take the fall and most likely have to pay a big fine and recompensaite the customers for time played and selling unfinished unplayable games. Bigger company's will destroy steam before they go down. Steam needs to step it up, if game is going to be destroyed or changed after 4 years they need to clearly state that on the store page for said game.

Out of curiosity, why register a brand new account just to make this thread? Why not post from the account where you actually play games?

Games today do. Unless, that is, they require additional components such as servers that, due to reasons such as cost and maintenance versus number of players, are deemed no longer viable to keep online. The simple solution in most cases: don't play such games. Make no mistake though, had the technology existed back in the days of the C64, the same reliance would have been in place then, too. Now, assuming you're playing on actual hardware, your C64 games will last as long as the media they are stored on does; for the C64 that is generally cassette tape -- which even when the C64 was a modern system, was known to fail for a variety of reasons (including the C64's tapedeck chewing them up).

You say you only play free games today, games that typically utilise servers and online requirements. So why are you surprised when they shutdown to low profits?

If i don't spend money on a game shutting down due to low profits then im not up set cause game was free anyhow be disappointed but not upset. Problem is when you spend over $100 for the game then spend many hours playing said game then they destroy said game for what ever reason that's where i have the problem.

The only games where I have spent such money and that have then shutdown are those that were online only, e.g. MMOs (mostly ones with monthly subs). That's part of an MMO's life. It's even mentioned in the agreements you have to, well, agree to when signing up. If you are having trouble with primarily offline games suddenly not working, 9 out 10 times, it's a problem with your hardware and software configuration. And in most of those cases, a little troubleshooting will find a fix, even if you have to think outside of the box.

For example, many years ago when I got a new PC, I wanted to replay the original Bioshock (long before the remaster was a thing). It worked flawlessly on my old PC but wouldn't launch on my new one. After a while of looking up potential issues, I discovered the fix: my new PC would only launch the game when a microphone was plugged into the front Mic In port. That's the nature of gaming on a PC. Expect things to break and have to find potentially weird solutions.

If company wants to change games system requirements thats cool but dont do it on a game that most people brought 4 years back at top dollar, do it on the games your going to release next.
