Steam accounts have been hacked more often lately
Despite Steam Guard and double authentication, hacks happen unnoticed, skins are stolen under the guise of Steam support, the questions are:

1. Will Steam update its rules regarding refunds?
2. Will the announced new security methods be implemented?

no. Steam's security is more then enough.

Users are the problem, getting phished, hijacked, and just giving all 3 log in keys away, via scam sites, off site fake log in pages etc...

Steam is not the problem, users are.

What new security methods have been announced?
"More and more accounts are hacked lately"

You mean more and more people are lax about their account details due to greed or ignorance.

why would they give anyone refund when ppl are stupid and using their logins on a scam site or third party site ? or talk to so called steam staff outside steam ticket system and ask them to send their stuff to a friends account no they should not get their stuff back or get refund not steams fault that you and others fall for this stupid scams and using your logins on other things then steam
As a userbase grows, the amount of inexperienced users also grows. This leads to the amount of compromised accounts growing. Which leads to more people posting about it.

There has been an incredible surge of criminal activity on the internet as a whole in the past few years. Last time I checked Steam was part of "the internet".

Accounts are not hacked, they are hijacked. Account security is 100% the user's responsibility. Random accounts simply do not get randomly "hacked." Simple as.

The most effective means of protecting your inventory is to not give away your account credentials by being greedy and gullible.

Not a single third party site can be trusted no matter how many random nobody YouTubers tell you otherwise. Not a single site, nor Steam Group, can be trusted no matter how many people use it (or claim to use it) and tell you it is safe, or they never had a problem.

Never vote for someone's team.

Never try to get that $50 gift.

Never listen to anyone on Discord saying they accidently reported you ...
...or that they are an admin ... or that they want to be friends and/or trade.

Trust no one.

If you willingly gave away your account then your weren't "hacked". Hacked means unauthorised access to an account. You gave your account away which means you authorised them to access your account.

I talked to someone like 2 days ago who said their friend just fell for the "i accidentally reported you" scam. If people are still falling for a scam like that, its 100% not steams fault.

Almost like the newer generations are getting dumber, so much for growing up into the tech era.

Steam doesn't even reply to the messages. It's been a month with still an open ticket.

I think agree with the op, there does seem to be an uptick, at least visibly on these forums of this activity, and apparently it happened to me on my main account. And all i do on that is play games.

No forums, messages, clicking on links or anything of the kind.

At the same time, i think Customer Service may also be in the midst of being replaced, being i never had a ticket go longer than 48 hours, let alone a month. And we're getting a lot of feedback about that as well.
