I think 7 days its to long , 3 days more than enough. Scammers or hacker no need 7 days , they just need a couple minutes or hours

7 days is enough time for the victim to report any scam and to prevent a forwarding profit against the perpetrator. Also reducing the trade hold would mean the 7 day cooldown on items would also need to be reduced and this would just open the doors to quickfire fraud and endless extended red tape.

All cooldowns and holds are in place for reasons along with their considered timeframe. One change can negate everything else.

It will become your problem if the time barriers are removed and you end up receiving stolen items. We'd then go back to 2015 times where everything would start getting rolled-back and you'd lose proceeds you made through sales you thought were legitimate and would stick.

The worst part is not allowing us to do email confirmations to skip the hold.
Not everyone has an expensive iPhone.

No it wouldn't become my problem, because i actually know how to protect myself. And 2016 was the peek of trading, no stupid restrictions, no trade cooldown, no market cooldown, no useless trade protection. Now everything is ruined

Once again, it's not to do with protecting yourself but other users not protecting themselves where YOU become affected. Let's say Steam reduced the cooldown's from 7 days to 2 and scammers were then able to quick-launder once more. If you received a fraudulently obtained item that Valve determined even after 6 days, they'd have to remove it 2015-style and then you'd be left with no proceeds, awaiting for your item to be returned, only to have to do it all again. Let's not go back to those dark days just because a few people can't wait a few more for a secure transaction or protected trade.

So Valve is practising double standards? Because if i remember correctly steam supports states that "all trades are final and can't be changed". But all of a sudden valve can take away your item you recieved in trade if they think it was obtained the "fraudulent" way
