The few instances Steam has removed games have either been developer revoking keys or mass refunds for scams.
The first instances(revoking keys) usually results in a refund or contacting the developer with proof of purchase and getting a new key. The second is just a forced refund. Which has only happened twice. Once with Days Gone and the other with Concord.
Anything marked in red, that doesn't just say renamed.
Order of War: Challenge (2013)
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Phantoms (2016)
This is a very rare ocurrence though and usually involves some kind of dispute with the developer.
Games delisted from the store can still be played if you previously owned them.
Well, recently, I have had a Playtest removed (since it was over) and that was the first time I saw a Yellow alert. It mentioned what was removed and for what reason.
When it comes to regular games, if they get removed from Steam, the game that was removed usually stays in your library (if you bought it beforehand)
I don't mess with EA/Ubisoft/etc anymore. I never had a pop up from them either.
One way of keeping track of your games is to keep track. Know how many games you have and if you ever see that number go down, and without a notice, you'll know something was removed.
Damn they really are on a purge huh.. I really hope they refund us if they are removing stuff we purchased.
You are confused. A game being removed from being sold does not effect anyone who has previously bought it.
A payment provider cannot retroactively tell steam to remove products people have already paid for. ANY game that is removed will display a massive message that is unmissable, and is extremely rare.
