Solution to bypass payment processor scandal
Valve can create their own currency if you get my meaning. That currency would be the only way to buy stuff from steam. You can still use paypal, visa or mastercard to buy that new currency which you then use to buy games on steam. Similarly how Gta Online introduced chips as a buyable currency to bypass directly buying shark cards for gambling inside the casino

steam has stated they are not going to use crypto for the time being, too much fraud

steam wallet funds is steam currency, so no need for some new crypto crap.

and your idea does not bypass anything.

It does, because the payment processor's don't want their services to be used directly to buy certain adult rated games. So if valve introduced their own currency which could only be used on steam to buy games then those processors wouldn't have any power on them

Valve already lets you buy currency for your steam wallet that can be used in store. They also have Steam gift cards. The problem isn't an issue of bypassing some bank/creditor/lender, it's that they are now allowed to target and de-list anything they deem inappropriate.

the payment processor doesnt know what you bought, they only know you bought something from steam. steam is not telling them you bought prime status for cs2, they are not telling them that you bought My Little Pony Super collection, they are not telling them that you bought 5 adult games. steam only tells the payment provider that you have bought $48 worth of goods from steam.
Do you actually imagine nobody is going to understand that buying steambucks, redeemable only on steam, purchasable only on steam, is just a form of store credit and therefore just purchasing stuff from steam?

You simply need a competitor, either a store like valve to which customers can move, or a payment processor competitor that valve can use instead.

The EU is working on a competitor for mastercard, visa and paypal, called WERO
unfortunately, it is currently locked in a very specific set of countries (test run)

The thing about WERO is that it isn't going to finance itself; it has links to the EU- so it cannot, not accept processing payment without there being strong legal ties for it.

The US needs its own payment processor in a similar vane; one under watch by the US, rather than by its employees or whatever activists.

Valve and Steam really aren't the culprits here. It's the government weaponizing monopolies instead of enforcing anti trust laws.

Don't hold your breath.

Also other services having rules to abide by isn't some radical idea. Steam is service and it has rules. Those rules affect games too. Payment processors are a service they have rules too. Those rules can impact your business in some cases. That's not scandalous. And since Valve isn't and will never be 100% self-sufficient, they have to abide by the terms they've agreed to to use the services.

Like this is about as shocking as the Sun rises in the East.

Why wasn't that a "rule" all this time until now?

I could care less for those kinds of games, i care if they start abusing this to any game because they feel like it

I would expect all digital distribution platforms are subject to the same rules.

And a payment processor that caters to a lot of problematic content is going to be radioactive. Fewer rules will attract less scrupulous customers and it's a downward spiral from there.

And what will you do when WERO doesn't want to enable or turn a blind eye to certain content? Do you really think it's going to be an anything goes free for all as long as you have money to plunk down on their service? Get real.

Well WERO may be an improvement on a lot of levels. Outrageous fees and penalties and the like. But they will still have rules and terms to abide by.

As for the U.S., forget it. Every other jagoff has drunk the kool-aid that the government can't do anything right and the only best answer for any problems is a privately owned for profit venture... no matter how abysmal it is they just tell themselves it's better than any other possibility.
