What Adult games to buy before the bans, removals and censorship
Is anyone else freaking out at the mass censorship that's about to happen? What do we buy before this removes a lot of fun adult games

I would say that an actually decent at-risk game would be:

https://steamhost.cn/app/2378900/The_Coffin_of_Andy_and_Leyley/

But pretty much any hentai game is potentially on the chopping block. They're only going after certain themes for now, but there's no telling how this will evolve over the next few months. I wouldn't be surprised if high production value games like "Snow Daze" (look it up yourself) start disappearing from the store over the next few weeks.

That's the first thing I bought when I read the news.

Me personally, I'd just get them elsewhere.

If you're talking about third party sites that sell steam keys, those will be delisted as well as it is the same process from where the keys originate. Legitimate. third party key sellers get their keys straight from the developer or publisher.

Those websites will also follow the same guidelines as steam does.

He's more likely referring to the stores that specifically sell adult games. But the point is the same, the payment processors WILL target them, too, at some point or other. They've already swept through most of the similar sites in Japan -- with only one of them telling them to bugger off.

If the games you'd like to buy are available on GoG/itch you better get them there. And backup the files yourself.

I think they meant a totally different place and not one that "sells" anything.

So this is a great example in regards as to what an oligopoly (mastercard / visa, the swift system, etc.), can do to forcefully make any changes it wants, and no one will do anything.

I guess it's time for more actual competition, so this oligopoly (one out of many, really) starts to lose power overtime, and be actually democratized :lunar2020thinkingtiger:

Tbh it might be fine they’re going more after the games that show the sexual acts in this game. It’s just heavily implied nothing ever confirmed visually so this one might be safe.

No, because payment processors are not going to start downloading and playing all the NSFW games on Steam looking for problematic content. But if you need another reason to feed your anxiety then don't let me stop you...

But since we are sharing recs, I super-duper recommend everyone get ButtKnight. It has great graphics and fairly challenging SHMUP gameplay. I r8 8/8.

They don't need to. They give stores a list of keywords that define the content they don't want the store selling. Stores then have to do all the work to remove related content or face not having a payment processor. Most stores do this by focusing on the titles. They look for those which contain any of the keywords, then pull them. Valve also ask for developers to describe the content of their games, so they have that additional information to readily search, too.

And why would payment processors do this now instead of years ago?
Do you think they didn't have the power to tell Valve what to do until Valve put that line into their developer terms?
