Are we actually letting banks dictate what we can and cannot buy?
I don't know about anyone else but this whole news about Visa and Mastercard is rather alarming. What's even more alarming is there's not a big deal being about it. Are people actually content on companies dictating what we can or cannot play?

Those pervert games are not my thing but I absolutely support the idea of them being sold here. I'd like to think the Steam or Gaming community as a whole will speak up against this nonsense.

Best to search before posting especially when multiple youtubers are covering something to avoid dozens of identical threads. Here's the original, and still active, discussion about this;

Yeah, Hi, I'm the "anyone else" you mentioned earlier. I prefer porn games be banned, I'm dead set against porn games, but I'm equally against any company dictating what we can or cannot play.
Feminist group called "Collective Shout" were behind these recent mass censorship.

So you hate censorship, but also want to censor others?
The smut never should have been on the platform. It was never about adult gaming for the longest time. Take the degeneracy elsewhere.

It’s not really censorship, no one is saying the games can’t be made, we just don’t want them sold on a family friendly platform like Steam. It’s similar to how stripclubs and other adult services are legal but strictly regulated to ensure that children never access them. This isn’t something a payment processor should ever be involved in though and as other have mentioned it’s a knee jerk reaction to political activism that has brought this situation about.

That's not what was said, though. That person wants that content type to be banned. No specific platform was mentioned. Banned means banned, as in no longer legal, and not merely removed from one single platform.

You seem to be forgetting that Valve doesn't really have a problem with the games not being here as any sexually explicit games were not here before and were just recently allowed. They certainly were not here in the beginning when Steam started having third party games and they were not here as recently as 2010. So you can be rest assured that if they leave this time, it will be permanent. There's 111,000 games on this platform. So Valve is certainly not going to go out of business if they cut some games loose.

In fact, you can look it up. The games were not allowed here until 2018.

On the one hand, yes. On the other hand, we all know they won't stop with smut. If they get that removed, next they'll want to remove "violent" games because "right-wing radicalization" or some such buzzwords.

Theirs is a never-ending game of escalating bans and the only way to win is not to play.
