🚨 Steam Trade Protect Came Too Late – €500 Inventory Stolen, No Help from Support 🚨
I'm deeply disappointed in Valve and the Steam Support team.
Just one day before the new Trade Protection feature was introduced, my entire CS2 inventory worth over €500 was stolen through a compromised trade – and I have no way to reverse it.

Even though the new system was designed to prevent exactly this kind of situation, it doesn't apply retroactively. Steam Support immediately closed my tickets without any real help or explanation. I tried multiple times to report the issue – all I got were generic responses.

I had Steam Guard and the Mobile Authenticator enabled, yet my account was compromised and my items were gone in minutes.

Why is there no protection for users affected just before the rollout?
Why does Support ignore loyal users who’ve invested time, money, and trust into the platform?

I hope Valve recognizes this gap in their system and starts taking responsibility – not just for future cases, but for those of us who were left behind.

Please elaborate. Let us know in detail what led to that outcome.

Because account security is your responsibility. Valve do not return items that have left an account for any reason, a decision they made after people abused their goodwill.

You shouldn't be trading skins for real money via third parties anyway, you have always done so at your own risk. A risk, as you have found, which can be quite a blow.

Your nickname fits.....

You gave away all your account details.

The account name, the password and the KEY to the door, the Steam Guard Mobile code giving them access to the account.

How? by either logging into a known scam site or any off steam item sell sites, fake steam log-in websites, or by tailored malware on your PC, the vote for my team scam, you have a pending ban scam on Discord, free knife click the link etc.

Follow steps 1- 8 to secure your account:

1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/

2. Check that the email and phone number on the Steam account are still yours.

3. Deauthorize all other devices https://steamhost.cn/twofactor/manage

4. Change passwords from a trusted/clean device.

5. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App https://steamhost.cn/twofactor/manage

6. Revoke the API key https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/dev/apikey (there should be nothing in the APIKEY)

7. Make sure your steam recovery email account is secure and still accessible.

8. Do a PW reset to recover any steam points spent in last 14 days.

Steam will NOT return lost funds or Items.

Because you were phished on your computer. They grabbed the session token from that 30 second 2fa code, along with your login info. that is the only way. with all 3 parts of the key, they could use that at any time to log in as you, since they had the 2fa session token code, steam thinks it is you.

The only way to get all 3 parts of the key is from your computer, you were phished.

Because only items with Trade Protection on them can be reversed.

:nkCool:
You have two trade banned accounts in your comment section. Out of morbid curiosity at what point does it become your fault? Losing that kind of money obviously sucks, but it was very much your money to lose, and you ignored the obvious warning signs.
