No, They Will Not Come for My Games Next
I want to talk about Valve removing some adult games from Steam because of pressure from payment processors like Visa and Mastercard.

I think it’s a good move.

These games, like some visual novels, are mostly for a small group. A 2025 study from AddictionHelp says 7% of U.S. adults have a porn addiction, with 11% of men and 3% of women affected in 2019. These games can make that problem worse, hurting mental health and relationships. Valve is doing the right thing here. Some people are mad. They say it’s a slippery slope and all games might get targeted next. Others want Valve to make their own payment system or think Valve just wants to control things. Some even talk about boycotting or pirating. But this isn’t about your favorite RPG or indie game. It’s about adult content that breaks payment rules.

A 2021 study says 68% of payment processors set strict limits, and this is an industry trend, not just Valve’s choice. For developers, there are other options that already sell these games, as seen in Steam Community talks. They can move there. Steam isn’t the only place.

Valve isn’t perfect, and some are upset about their reasons. But keeping users safe is more important than a small market. This is the way to go.

You think it's a good move to police content neither you nor those companies understand? That's a rather self-centered and selfish attitude.

The thing is, this will change nothing. Go to google and just type in naked women and you'll get a billion results.

Steams selection of naughty games will not do anything.

What they might target next are games just showing pretty girls. Or games with any type of sexual content. Witcher 3 where you can sleep with the witches.
Games where you have a nude mode by default.
Cyberpunk2077 could probably become a victim for this.

Now that they have the power they are probably not going to stop.

Keeping users safe? No one is unsafe because there are some porn games on Steam.

Utterly irrelevant in this case.
Bro thinks Mastercard and Visa are doing this to help people with addiction LOL
User is just a misinformed and ignorant person who feels shadenfreude over certain people losing access to content they enjoy.

Edit: thanks for the points, OP, gonna spend them for a point shop item from a raunchy game.

I understand quite well. You are clearly very upset but your attempt to emotionaly manipulate me with false accusations will not work.

No, you don't understand, and your attitude proves it. You are just posting some random numbers you claim come from a "research" and they are completely unrelated to visual novels. BTW, blocked.
Just because someone plays a porn game doesn't mean they are addicted to it. Same with people drinking alcohol from time to time.
That is also ignoring how easily accessible porn is on the internet.

This. Also, games which may contain sexual content aren't necessarily all about it. Many games actually have proper relationship building and the sexual content is a scene of intimate bonding.

Porn wasn't exactly hard to find before the internet either.

No I understand more than you, since you are clearly too emotional to think about this in a rational way.

Also it's completely irrelevant whether you block me or not, I don't know you and I have zero interest in interacting with you outside of this thread.

You will get nothing from me, stop begging, and even if I did I wouldn't care even slightly that you spent it on another boring cartoon avatar or whatever you're talking about.

"Porn addiction" is not a thing.
Ah the "corporations infringing on my rights and telling me what I can and can't do is based my guy" the thread. I mean what could possibly go wrong guys?
