probably not within the immediate future but...
This is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I'm so sick of this crap. Their job is to take my money and give it to the company I bought something from. They don't have a right to tell me what legal things I can and cannot purchase. I wrote my congressman about this ♥♥♥♥. Today it's this, what will it be tomorrow. You know corporations give then a inch they take a mile.
steam goes from no porn games to some porn games, and then to slightly fewer porn games: OH NO THIS IS UNPRECEDENTED, STEAM HAS NEVER NOT HAD PORN

It would be one thing if Valve decided that they wanted to cut back on porn and did it because of that.

It's their store, their prerogative, fine.

But they doing it because of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ credit card companies is not the same. This is setting a ridiculous precedent, and if you think porn is the only thing that bothers those geriatric ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, you'd mistaken.

The group agitating for this recent ban wave was trying to get freaking Detroit: Become Human banned years ago, a very tame game by any standards. They just went for easier fish this time.

there there

It'll probably end up even worse, since Google is a much bigger company and has a little more say.

No it went from no sexual material in games, to no porn games, to okay porn games, to "we hereby give all ISPs, payment processors, banks, and virtual landlords we working with(whether the customer chooses to or not) total, indeterminate and retroactive access to decide our entire uncatalogued. By the rules set out in subsection 15, Sid Miers Alpha Centauri, Arcanum of steamworks and magic obscura, Baldurs Gate 3, Crusader Kings(all of them), Hearts of Iron, Stellaris, Dragon Age:Origins & Dragon Age 2, chaos head, and more, would all be banned for presentation or glorification of bestiality(BG3), slavery(DA, Alpha Centauri, arcanum, any 4x game), genocide(stellaris, arcnum, centauri) and incest(Crusader kings, arcanum)

By the rules set up by subsection 15 of the new steam agreement, yes, they are.

Still breaks subsection 15 of the steam distribution agreement due to the presence of bestiality and to a lesser degree rape. Specifically it breaks standards by master card and thus, by rule subsection 15, is against steams rules. It should be removed immediately according to said standards.

Do you see the problem here? It doesnt matter how it has or hasn't been used at this moment, it matters that there is no limit here. It matters what the written rule -IS-
And sure, a giant like Baldur's Gate 3 can enjoy some immunity with its status. But smaller games?

Say, Fear & Hunger.

A well received and relatively popular game, but by all standards still a very small indie game by a very small indie developer.

The game contains explicit depictions of rape, so if it falls under the target of some "concerned group", it's going to be gone. A small indie group isn't going to be able to stand their ground.

And if you think they will stop at the extreme stuff like rape and bestiality, you'd be very much mistaken (one could argue that consensual incest is already an example of something that isn't anywhere nearly as extreme - heck, it is not even a crime where I live).

Their argument against Detroit: Become Human was "child abuse", for example, because there was an abusive father in the game.

How did I not think of fear and hunger?! That should have been right enxt to arcnum in willingness to actually let a crapshack world be internally consistent.

and wait they argued against detroit become human? Can you elucidate that one. It does also breach subseciton 15 but this is still news to me

I suppose they're also going to ban Mafia 3 for racism?

Yes, the problem here is that you say the rule prohibits x yet x is allowed. This implies that you are wrong.
