Moving the Censor's Needle?

Going into your account details, you can find your approved payment methods. Here you can conveniently remove any Visa/Mastercard/PayPal ones. I just did.

This of course leaves me unable to make Steam purchases. Oh well, both I and Valve will have to manage somehow. I guess it's not such a loss for Valve - unless lots of people were to do the same. Which I for one think would be a very natural consequence for pandering to the censorious presumptions of the financial middlemen grotesquely overgrown from leeching off the transactions of actual market participants.

And, just to be clear: I'm not "mad" because of the content targeted by this initial assault, so save your calumny for more appropriate gotchas. I simply see no justification for these parasitical entities to be performing as morality police for anyone, and am all too familiar with the results of giving the proverbial inch to such forces.

i've been buying cards and wallet codes out of the local game store for 90% of my steam purchases anyway

Not necessarily.

You may be able to buy physical gift cards depending on were you live. I actually had to do that once because paypal wasn't working and steam didnt care.

Not sure if they still accept other prepaid cards as well but they do exist.

That may be the case, but it would serve to defeat the message in the native language of business, revenue.

The inability to buy incest/rape porn doesn't inconvenience me nearly enough to shift any of my purchasing/buying habits.

Exactly. I have the power to spend my money however I want. That includes NOT spending it on incest/rape porn. I am free to spend my money on not-incest/rape-porn which is what I want.

i dont buy that kind of content either and i am not inviting you to do so
but i will side with all the gooners of the world for this topic, it's not up to some australian middle aged lady to decide how someone across the globe gets off to with his own money, bypassing local authorities and pressuring payment services
it's not about what kind of games you enjoy

That's the thing: my money is my money. It's not up to you to tell me how to (not) spend it. If I want to spend my money on non-sick porn, using a payment service not infringing on anyone' s human rights, it's my money & my decision. You aren't entitled to decide how others spend their money, bypassing authorities.

It's also not a matter of pandering anymore than agreeing to hand over your cash to the guy with a gun to your head is pandering.

Also can people just pause and breath, let some oxygen get to your brain cells for a bit. Think for a second of all the places and stores you can use your visa/mc to make purchases. You can use said visa/mc to purchase dragon themed dildos and a wide variety of sex dolls, literal sex dolls. Not to mention the vast number of porno movies, novels, and esoteric pornographic materials on amazon which offers it's own branded Visa card.

SOmething tells me them guidelines anint really gonna change much of what we see on on Steam. Just saying. A look at the list of games that were actually removed shows a rather particular common theme to those games.

all i am reading from your post is "it doesnt effect me, so i dont care" which is fine i guess, personally i am against this kind of borderline mobster behaviour of blackmailing companies into following an agenda, especially if it ends up restricting someone's freedom
