The content of the removed games is irrelevant.
The payment processing companies should not have the power to demand companies make changes like this.

Since the content is entirely fictional there is also absolutely no reason why anybody would support it even if they dislike the content.

I want to know how exactly it's any different than people wanting to remove games such as Grand Theft Auto.

There is no difference between violence and sexual violence in this aspect. Both sexual gratification and enjoyment of violent media are in the same exact part of the brain.

People will not go out and murder because they played a violent game or watched a movie. People will not go out and rape because they played a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ porn game.

No, it's not irrelevant.
Ofc the content is irrelevant in this topic. Payment operators abuse them monopolistic and privileged positions to censor another private company. This is serius abuse what can not have place.

Oh man...
It's very relevant.

Just see how it's used to excuse the behavior of larger corporations.

A lot of people are basically cheering for that boot in their necks.
And you really think control-addicts will just "stop" at that? You really think they'll NOT go for something else later on?
Give them an inch, they take the entire planet from you.
Is this a troll farm? :confusedkarlach:

The people yearn for the mines.

It's the intellectuals who are the problem. The ones who understand basic logic, ethics, math, philosophy. That's why every autocratic, authoritarian regime in history has tried to eliminate that class of people first.

There are people backing total censorship right now of even games for the sake of simply giving corporation the power to regulate Steam, Steam forums will have that guy. :lscientist:

if a payment processor asked steam to remove malware or copyright infringing games, would this statement also be true?

Both malware and copyright infringement are illegal according to law. Valve has a legal obligation to police submitted software to prevent malware and copyright infringement (and they already do and have done this).

Meanwhile, the actual artistic content of the video games in question is not illegal according to law. So you're asking a loaded question.

Yes because the content isn't the issue. Those are also actually illegal. Nothing that was removed was illegal.

Malware and copyright infringement are types of content. (Also, malware is a broad term and is not necessarily illegal.)
