How to remove old proton versions from appearing in drop down menu

I want to remove the old proton versions (not GE) appearing in the steam compatibility menu because on my steam deck, the list is so long it prevents me from choosing the new one I want to use. I have tired deleting them but they stick in this menu for ever going back to proton 3. The list is pretty bad on my pc but on the little steam deck screen there is no longer anyway to choose the latest version because this list of old protons I've never even used is so long.

I don't have a Steam Deck, but wouldn't you be able to put it into Desktop Mode and change it that way?
