Ban GTA
This is hilarious Steam banning erotic games while games like GTA are allowed.

Erotic content - not allowed

While promote:
- exaggerated violence against innocent civilians and cops
- organised criminals
- terrorism
- drugs
seems ok for Steam.

There must be balance. If Steam is supposed to be family friendly platform then violent games also deserve the ban.

Yes let's be conssitent rather than hypocritical.
It seems OP has missed complletely what is happening if they think this is Steam going family friendly.

Bad parody thread. None of this is Steam's fault.

Valve p icked their side, and it wasn't the side of the customers.

And what other choice they have? Nuke themselves?

You'd be surprised.

It's far more likely that Valve chose the lesser evil here - allow the removal of more extreme erotic content and cop the backlash, or see the removal of payment processors and potentially lose their entire business.

I am quite certain that we won't see this escalate into anything further than what it already has, at least as far as de-listing the aforementioned game types is concerned.

You're only takign this mindset becuase it's so far only affected content you either don't care ♥♥♥ tu or disapprove of outright. Just like anybody else who does apologetics for censorship until it comes for them.

You still avoided my question. What other choice they had?

I'm one of the people who can enjoy an adult game from time to time, I've always been of the stance that such content is welcome on Steam. But I also think Valve did choose the most neutral, and perhaps even best, option here with regards to its customers.

There is much more nuance to peoples opinions, it's not as black & white as you try to act.

"Neutral" would not be capitulating to payment processors. How far will you accept payment processors goign and why? Where is your line n the sand where Valve acquiescing to them is no longer "neutral" or a remotely good option?

"Neutral" is exactly what they did. They either capitulated and allowed the PPs to restrict highly niche games in a very niche genre, or they risked losing those processors altogether and their platform would likely have died.

They made a compromise.

It's also not up to us to draw the line, it's up to Valve. I'd certainly like to believe that Valve would draw the line somewhere reasonable, should those companies decide to become wider reaching in their restrictions.

How about we let this settle down and see what happens, eh?

NOt Neutral. It was two choices and they picked a side. NOt a compremise. Enjoy the death of the platform if you're willing ot let this slide that easily.

No, neutral is taking the middle ground, which is what Valve did.

Valve isn't an activist, they're a business. A business will make business decisions.

Not sure why people think it's always others that have to do the fighting. It's up to ourselves to take action if we want it. :conwayshrug:
