Petition to get Steam to Create their own Bank/Credit Card Proccessing centers!
Far too long has Visa/MasterCard held a monopoly. Steam is already the largest marketplace for games. IF they bend the knee now, they lose ALL POWER to conduct their own affairs as they legally should be.

I know it will cost a fortune, but it would allow steam to diversity and become stronger as a company and politically. Visa/Mastercard is over reaching in its power and there are a lot of companies that will flock to steams new banking system. They will have the business and their freedom. They just need to invest in a new company, owned by Valve Corp..

This would help steams stock prices and would be in the interests of its Customers. IF you allow steam to be bullied, you're allowing your supporters/customers to be bullied. Protect the investors, protect steam and show the world that we the customers, have a word in this world.

Please Steam, Fight back and if you wish to garner your support for steam... Just post it here in hopes they see it. Email Gaben. His email is public.

Edit: Removed the investors part.

Valve is not a publicly traded company.

:nkCool:
They're powerful, but not a monopoly granted the total available payment methods.

There's also dozens of these threads and the exact same suggestion, and I understand asmongold also just made a video about this as well, but it's best to search before posting especially when so many already exist.

As long as visa/mc is a very large portion of their transactions even if Valve makes their own, or accepts some questionable crypto; the terms will be the terms, the stuff for sale that has been removed is of absolutely no realistic loss to Valve compared to a good indie or one AAA release.

Also Valve is privately owned.

No. as has been mentioned in the 109 other same off topic threads, this is not what steam should do. Also this is a user to user only sub-forum. There are no valve or steam employees that have access to read threads or posts.
So your only rebuttal is they are not publicly traded? Okay good now they have no stock holders to answer too and they 100% should fight back. They can't see it here? Fine here you go

This is a public petition on change.org

If we get 5 signatures it goes live. So IF anyone wants to sign it, do so at your own reasons. IF you want to argue and cause drama, I will just assume you work for Visa/Mastercard or are part of the problem.
Maybe we need another EU petition, just like Stop killing games. But against payment providers.
What a compelling argument. "If you want to argue with me, you are a shill for the credit card companies." How about you don't advertise spurious petitions here?

"I know it will cost a fortune BUT"

Are you even partially aware of what you are saying? You are happy to spend someone else's money irresponsibly. Then you email Gaben yourself and explain why he should risk financial ruin.

Also, you stated you removed the investors part but I think you missed one reference. If you really want to backtrack on your stance, do it properly.

So why am I arguing with you? Because what you are pleading for is not in Valve's best interest. All my games are tied up in Steam. What threatens Valve threatens my collection. Ergo you are attacking what is mine. Not just some shadowy corporation but everyone who has poured their hopes and dreams into it - all the developers and customers.

Or did you think your "position" was a clever one?

does the EU have their own payment processors or do they also use Visa/Master Card?

Sounds like a tremendous amount of work....

I'm sure valve would love to be as rich as a bank, but how does your petition elevate them to that level of finance?

Is this about their recent dropping of high risk products from their store?

If I were them, I would remove this stuff too. You don't want that sort of publicity.

Steam charges up to 30% for every game sold. Valve, Steam took free open source Debian Linux and Vulkan libraries and has been pushing the Steam Deck for a while now.

You can install SteamOS somehow (which they claim is open source) but it requires very specific hardware and the Steam client is closed source and proprietary.
