Valve Pay when?
Dude there ain't no way gamers can't just change how they pay.

We did it when we went to Paypal..... now that Paypal sucks and wants to play "I am basically the same as the law", we can just dump Paypal and get ValvePay.
ValvePay would be poggers.
A Payment Service that's just a service nothing more nothing less.
I'd help crowd fund it if they offered it on steam.

Think about it... we all together hate the payment monopoly.
Big banks having monopoly was never a good thing to begin with.

The gaming community is pretty damn big and it would hit of all around because our generation is really connected to the internet in general.

Just to clarify: no english is not my first language and no I don't play incest games as you can see on my profile.

Would be great if GabeN and/or his team give it a thought.

That wil cost a lot money
Will take long before accepted by financial system
The gaming community while large, is not even a drop in the bucket against any payment processor, let alone two of the largest if the world.

steam: 132 million monthly active users
PayPal: currently has 426 million verified users
and that is just steam.... every steam player has a few crossplay friends and/or real life friends as well

Paypal start: The initial user base of 24 grew rapidly, with the company hitting 1 million users within a year. The rapid growth was partly driven by a strategy of using bots to purchase items on eBay and insisting on paying with PayPal. This strategy helped create demand for the service and drive user adoption. Steam could do that witout bots. JUST REAL PEOPLE

And Paypal is extremely tiny compared to Mastercard and Visa. Visa alone have over 4 billion users, Mastercard over 3 billion. And fun fact, Paypal uses Mastercard as a processor.
When it comes to Visa and Mastercard and their revenue what percentage is from Valve? 0.1%? or less which is drop in the ocean that Visa and Mastercard would not miss.

Valve needs their services, they do not need Valve.

"I hate monopolies" and also "I wish Valve corp was the only company I ever use."
You know, movies might have actually worked out if Valve had had a Valve Pay that people used.

Most likely never. Building (and running, for that matter) a payment network isn't a task you do on-the-side. It's quite the commitment in terms of time & ressources. Also in terms of regulations, none of which apply when it's "just" about selling videogames.

PayPal has been a dedicated payment service from day 1.

Paypal was owned by eBay in the past which forced that as a payment Option on their Plattform.

That is the main reason why it became "popular" .....

Btw. Most gamers are dumb as hell and come with ideas which others need to think trough as nothing of it would be achievable the way they think.....

Not how real life, especially the financial sector works, Sonny Jim. But I wouldn't expect anything less than a complete fantasy land from the gaming population which shows an incredible woeful lack of education in such matters.
Paypal is am intermediate who still uses the existing networks and cards of MC/Visa. Valve Pay would be the same.

If you want Valve pay to be an alternative to MC/Visa, yeah not gonna happen.

Sometimes I get the feeling thst people think that MC/Visa are just a logo on a credit card.
cryptopay. love to be able to buy stuff using crpyto only. Crypto coin like xmr would be perfect...
Valve aren't a financial institution. And if they did somehow decide to become one in order to offer their own payment method, they would, ultimately, still have to go through the pipelines established by Mastercard and Visa. This is the problem that needs tackling first -- and that has to be done at the government level. Japan's Fair Trade Commission has now taken the first move toward this in retaliation to the fees that Visa levy on firms to force them into their pipeline and to force other pipelines out of business.
