you have to rename the steam folder to steam 2 (or just add a 2 to the end of the folder's name), then make a new folder and give it the old steam folder's name, then install steam to the new folder. once installed, delete the new steam folder (do not use the uninstaller here) and rename the old folder to it's old name. steam client service is there and all my data is safe.
