If the company goes public, I will not remain loyal to the platform outside of my mercenary interests.
I'm not going to let a company out psychologically/socially engineer the boiling frog in a pot concept here to the point where I accept my own capitulation with my demise.

Valve is very pro consumer, and that's only possible, because it has the market captured. I'm very well capable of walking away if you choose to go public.

Thank you for listening.

And where has it ever been said they were considering going public?

GabeN is getting old, and essentially seems retired at this point. I want to put this out there, if the company insiders think that a big pay out is their lottery winning ticket, instead of a lifetime supply of infinite money, being thrown to the curb if they go public.

Valve has no plans to go public AFAIK.
135 million active accounts. Your leaving will not have the impact you think. Further, the majority don;t care about the games that were removed and wasn't playing them anyway. They were niche games within the already niche adult genre as well.

Odd thread to make out of nowhere.

A lot of these threads aren't sending the messages believed to be sent since this is about rape, incest and child molesting/raping content that visa doesn't want association with in regard to products sold where their brand is present. :cozycastondeath:

My only perception of importance is that I'm speaking to a broader sentiment that remains within the community.

I'm not speaking towards capitulating with the monopoly on transactions by these companies.

The community defending adult games, isn't what I'm interested in, it's just one of the drivers about the discussion around Steam's future and that initiated my desire to speak towards my own plans on how to react if the company goes public.

Unlikely to go public.
Shop with a store that aligns with your beliefs, use is optional.

Further, any digital store is going to operate roughly the same as Steam. Don't forget, Steam was here first and these other stores modeled themselves after Steam. When something works, you copy it.

....and if EA App, GoG, Battlenet, Amazon Prime Gaming, Rockstar Launcher, Epic, Ubisoft Connect, ever go public? Tell us your options.

Were they even niche and not just something thrown together in an afternoon?

Well, a lot of these games and the adult games made money off heart badges and emoticons. You'd be surprised how many those games have these. Heart emoticons are $$$$ for whatever reason. So are the cards to craft the badges.

All of those (except GoG, I think) are already public.
