No longer using my Visa
Or Mastercard. I'm washing my hands clean of both.

I don't trust American Express or Discover not to go the same path, but I'm comfortable no longer using the payment processors that have betrayed me. Thankfully I am a US citizen, and both those alternative cards are accepted everywhere I've done business.

This is due to the EU and England. Their policies are attempting to destroy our freedom, and instead of region blocking them (as every American company should do to incite outrage in their populations to get RID of these awful policies) we're caving in.

I'm but a tiny drop in the ocean, but certain alcohol companies have been crippled due to group action, so I hope we can do the same here. Let's try our best.

good luck!
The only proper way to protest really, best of luck!
I wouldn't abandon them that easily. They are one of the few "easy" means of proving your age. They only give credit cards to people over 18. If all this gets worse, you may need your enemy!!!

You do know that the US is working for years on similar laws?

Let's see, American Express....yup, very similar polices. Looks like they allied with mastercard and visa to shut down some porn thing called "backpage" all the way back in 2015

Discover....yup, same deal. Discover was allied with visa and mastercard in trying to shut down porn hub in 2020.

I don't think you are going to find a payment processor that is okay with the stuff steam was selling. I've been looking at the terms of payment processors lately, just because I was curious if there was an actual alterative. Even the EU ones all have similar rules.
These card and processing companies have come to a point where their services are integral and essential to our societies and they've become far too important to the functioning of our societies to allow them to deny service to lawful users.

It's as simple as that.

Imagine if your electric, gas or water company could stop your services because they don't like something you are doing, even though you are breaking no laws...

These processing and card companies must be put under very strict regulation that legally forces them to treat all transactions equally and without bias or discrimination and prevents them from denying service for lawful transactions if they are to continue to hold such key roles in the functioning of our societies.

"You get the society you deserve", BAD

Are you sure that they are lawful transactions? I don't feel like the law has really been applied to steam, like ever, regarding these games.
Why would you not report something to the police if you think it is illegal?

If you think something is against the law, then call the police, they are the law enforcement agency last time I checked.

If it is not legal, I promise you, they will do something.

Internet companies are not really something you call the police about. I think it would be a white collar crime.
It the job of law enforcement to enforce the law, if you report a crime to them they will respond, the problem you have is that there is no crime for you to report.

don't be naive, example in UK ppl are getting arrested for memes and jokes, ideologies and tribes matter more then law, in certain places

well sadly cops don't care about this (sins its international company its pain to deal with them), if its not a bigger thing they won't get involved, they dont care about censorship, and in UK they support it sins government supports it, also laws are flawed and they use the loopholes, but what they (visa/master) are doing is abuse of power

I'm just going to stick with Steam gift cards. Bypasses using Visa and MasterCard.

I'll just withdraw what I need and buy the card relevant to the purchase.
Visa/Mastercard are US companies and the people who convinced those companies into going this path are a small group of feminist activists in australia (and no I'm not blaming australia either). So, as annoying the EU/UK can be with censorship, it wasn't them this time.

The really concerning thing is, that a small group of karens and some payment services seem to have more power than elected governments, when they're able to ban legal content.

Banning media should be the responsibility of the respective ELECTED governments and their legislative, the responsibility of payment services is to conduct payments, not more, not less.
