Around 5 months ago this happened on another account of mine
On another account, I was trying to gift a game to my friend, and some sort of error was appearing, so i decided to contact steam support to identify what's happening, after i contacted them i was met with this:

"This account has violated the Steam Terms of Service Agreement.
This account has been flagged by Steam Support for violations of the Terms of Service Agreement. Purchasing, gifting, trading, buying and selling items on the Community Market, and cd-key activation have been disabled.

Account functionality has been restricted.
If you believe you have received this message in error, please contact Steam Support so that we can assist you.

More info on this topic is available here: Steam Terms of Service Agreement."

i tried to contact them but nothing helped, so what can i do? and can i still play online?

You can still play games, but it seems they've restricted your ability to buy things in the store and marketplace.

Have you done some card chargebacks in the past? There's not many things a user can do to have this happen

These bans happen when accounts are detected for commerce or bypassing regional restrictions.

It seems these bans are more or less false flags. I def understand bans given out, and we don't "agree" with the ban. Or these bans wars or everybody reporting eachother.

But it seems these bans are just happening, and no real explanation as to why by Support.

It's like, they cant explain or are hush hush. Very strange. It would be nice to know what we did in so we don't do it again. But they can't cite what actually happened. Some vague excuse.

But with all this bot spam going on, i can only imagine what's going on over there,

They stated why the account was trade banned. Judging by the comment in the other thread explaining they sent money to one of the accounts with a USD gift card, it points to bypassing regional restrictions being the most likely case.

If you're not in the same region that uses USD, then that's considered bypassing the regional restrictions.

They will absolutely restrict your account for this.

Use of a VPN doesn't matter. Is your local currency USD?

my specific region did support usd, but I dont know why this still happened, im almost 100% sure i didnt violate any terms of serivce or anything, neither did i create the account in another region, neither did i use a currency that isnt bound to the current region, i dont recall doing anything wrong, and steam support feels like an answering machine, just keeps replying with the same set of words

Yes
Then why would you need a separate account to send you the funds?

So the original account wasn't in USD? The one you were sending money to?

i think i should've added more details in the description in the post, the account that got restricted, which is the account i added the gift card to, just tried to gift my friend a game, another person which isnt me, and the reason why i have another account which has the gift card added to it, because my ORIGINAL account, is in switzerland currency for some reason. and i couldnt ever change it, therefore i wasnt able to add the usd giftcard to the account, just to clear up im NOT from switzerland, thats why i had created another account in my region to add the giftcard to.
