That's the rumor :steamhappy:

That depends on what you mean by "The new XBox". So far, the only confirmed device is the ROG XBox Ally which isn't quite an XBox. It's not marketed as one either (which may or may not be a "not yet"). This thing will be able to run Steam though.
I haven’t even seen a hide nor hair of the new Xbox yet so Steam on it, to me, is still in wishful thinking territory.

Happy to informed otherwise though.

The answer is sorta. The current talk is that Xbox is basically going to abandon consoles as they got their butts kicked and just got done with mass layoffs in their gaming department. Their next release will be a gaming PC running a modified version of windows from their interviews.

So if that happens it will be no different then buying any other PC. You can install any windows software on it.
The next Generation of Xbox is going to be a Gaming PC. Just Google it.
You need to remember that Xbox is in a mess in the business sense. It seems they are looking to spread the Xbox availability on other platforms, so it's more likely to be the other way round.
I mean the name was literally Xbox PC which they just changed to Xbox on PC as they can't even decide on a name.

That seems really dumb, like even more silly than a console.. Why would anyone buy a limited PC Xbox when you can just buy a fully fledged PC..

You'd have to ask them, that is the current plan, and why its called Xbox PC or Xbox on PC. Its going to be running a modified version of Windows meant for gaming that they are developing so the OS might not be available outside of the PC's they sell, or it could be available for anyone to download. No one knows yet.

All we know is that xbox got thrashed, microsoft had mass layoffs in their gaming division and they are focusing more on PC then console no.

How long is the modified version of Windows life span?

To be fair Xbox could have beaten the heck out of all the other consoles for years if they'd just stopped with the exclusives and the crazy controller fetish..

You'd have to ask them, they haven't even settled on a name yet, let alone details like that.
