is there any way to just disable achievement notifications?
its getting really annoying for steam to constantly give me a medal every time i start up a new game and i take my first jump, or defeat my first enemy, or anything else simple and mundane. is there any way to just turn it off altogether? because that would be great

yeah thats what i usually do. the only problem is that steam overlay is useful for a lot of things, so it would be nice to disable achievements while still being able to use steam overlay

Unfortunately there is no other way currently. Overall, achievements are completely meaningless, but the Kiddie Konsole platform has unfortunately made them desirable to the e-peeners and ding chasers to the detriment of actual game play.

Fortunately, Valve has seen fit to only pay lip service to this system and implement it in the most basic way, so it's easily ignored for the most part. We can only hope that a way to disable them altogether will eventually be brought to the fore. In the mean time, using SAM to complete them allows for avoiding the pop up without needing to disable the overlay while playing the game. It also has the extra benefit of completely annoying the e-peeners and ding chasers - some to the point of having apoplectic fits over it - which is reason enough to use SAM.

lmao, all this because you can't handle a tiny corner of your screen having a notification for 3 seconds. Embarassing.

Incorrect, mah dude, but you go on thinking that if it helps make you feel better about yourself.

Wow, you're really bent out of shape over something you've fundamentally misunderstood. It's kind of impressive.
