Taxes here are 13% in Ontario so I don't even understand this

I'm not a pro when it comes to that kind of thing. But you could always ask the question to support if you feel it is warranted. Given that they handle billing issues, they probably got the answer.

You government introduced a 3% tax, they seem to have changed their mind but scrapping it hasn't gone through parliament. So it is still in force.

There are countries out there that have a 100% tax on digital items.
