Title: Steam Refund System Counting Free Trial Hours for Dead by Daylight — Manual Review Request
Hello,

I recently purchased Dead by Daylight on August 4, 2025. My actual playtime after purchase is about 1 hour 45 minutes (1.7h shown in the client).

However, my total playtime shows 7.8 hours because around 6 hours were played during the official free trial in 2023, before I bought the game.

Steam’s automated refund system is counting these free trial hours toward the 2-hour refund limit and keeps denying my request without manual review. This means my case fully meets the intent of the refund policy (less than 2h post-purchase, less than 14 days since purchase), but the system prevents any appeal.

I have contacted Behaviour Interactive (the developer), but they said they cannot intervene in Steam refund decisions. I am posting here hoping that someone from Valve or the community can suggest a way to have this case reviewed manually.

Thank you for reading,

The automatic system takes in all playtime. You need to manually send a refund ticket.

I already tried to write, but the auto-responder simply replied that I had more than 2 hours.

Try this:

the auto system only looks at time played and time since the license was added. if you want a human to look at your request, submit a manual ticket. select the purchase, then select "I have a question" and make your request there.

The automatic refund system only has a place for you to write a short reason for the "game developer" to see. It's basically a feedback box, nothing more.

Make a manual ticket like I showed you in your other thread.

When you open a ticket, you have to choose something else, another question, or whatever it may be (I don't remember the exact phrasing off the top of my head).

If you choose "refund," you get immediately routed to the automatic system, no matter what, and it will auto deny you with no chance to appeal.

Hope this helps.
This has always counted. It's your fault for not realizing it beforehand. Feel free to search on the internet and you will find that it is true.

Be aware that if you do do a manual ticket. The response is final.

Also posting here is futile as these forums are entirely user based. This means that no one from Valve posts here.
