Gaming has never been better.
At least half the games on my wishlist are ones that I am looking forward to coming out in the next year or two. There is a plethora of choice right at my fingertips. The Indie scene is thriving with thousands of quality games and more coming out every week.
We have continued to push the boundaries of technology to bring about the most amazing games. I can drive a load of TVs to California in the morning and slay a band of orcs with people from all over the world after dinner. I can top the leader board and pull out a win in a battle on the sea with a bunch of random noobs, or fight a robotic dinosaur in a post apocalyptic world on my own.
No, my sweet summer child. Gaming is far from dead. In fact gaming has never been more alive.
Again, a you problem that has nothing to do with gaming. So what we actually have is another AFF that should be reported to moderation.
So don't. You talk about time you wasted yet you wasted your own time posting some ragebait rant. Don't misunderstand me, i agree with a couple of your points as far as games being boring and woke nowadays, but that's only some of them. There are plenty of great games that have come out and continue to come out. If you aren't happy with the games you play then play something else or find a different hobby. Also you have 5,000 hours in TF2 and played nearly 40 hours in the past 2 weeks. Clearly you must've enjoyed that otherwise you wouldn't have played. Anyways. Fishing is a fun hobby... although you may end up touching grass soo.... maybe not.
The problem is, that a lot of past games where in their genre nearly perfect gameplay-wise and all the developers now have left to improve is graphics and performance - or add gimmicks no one needs.
It's no wonder several 10 year-old games are still top sellers and enhanced versions of classics make good profit.
When something peaks, there is not much left to improve. All the industry then does is cloning - with mixed success.
We know what kind of "customers" lurk there ...

Maybe a good idea to take a break and wiork through your backlog
Video game is a hobby. You could also stop watching TV, movies, series, stop reading fantasy novels... And spend this time doing something "productive". But is spending all your life being productive and never having fun really a life worth living ?
If you don't like video games anymore, maybe it's just time for you to find a new hobby to have fun with, mate.
At some point in time we will eventually all feel this way.
For me, I stick more to the older games where I know I get enjoyment out of them.
Since most of the ones I would play are on Nintendo, Sega, or PlayStation consoles I am forced to get the ones here I know I would play.
I don't want to piss on Steam about this, though. It isn't their fault that most of those games aren't on here. It is up to the developers and those who own the IPs to be willing to give them a chance on Steam.
Too many games are being lost because of the people in charge. Look at Fallout 1 and 2. The developers were ordered to get rid of the source code. That is just pure insanity. No way in Hell would I have ordered any source code to be destroyed.
They could be releasing remasters of those games right now and making money off them.
So damned shortsightedness.
In any case I disagree that there aren't any good games coming out. There are games making money right now. It isn't the developers fault. You simply aren't impressed with the offerings. That is on you ... not them.
Perhaps you should be looking inside yourself instead.
