steam chat app.. -5 star review
worst app I have ever seen.
I am forced to install another app just to chat with friends? F no! Have they seen the google play reviews for the app (I have a de-googled phone so I use apkpure)?

atrocious performance, again I get the F-ing "Invalid Credentials Supplied" when accessing the chat app.. EVEN IF I AM LOGGED IN!

What was the reason they separated the chat from the main app?

Sounds like you might have downloaded a modified version of the app from that third party site.

Your credentials might be compromised by a modified app disguising itself as the steam chat app, To be safe I'd run a virus scan and change your password.

I get over that error message by refreshing the app.. my big dissatisfaction is that I have to install another useless app just to chat with friends.. If I install a pre 2018 version of steam, will the app still work and not require me to update it?
There are three Steam mobile apps I'm aware of. Authenticator, Link, and Chat. They all do completely different things.

If you don't want an app for chat, you could open your web browser to https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/chat

The invalid credentials is an old bug; just exit the app (by pushing it off-screen; no need to actually force-quit it) and start it again.
I swear no one at Valve has even touched the Chat app since Tony left.

from what I understood, they separated the chat from the main app for user security.. how is that going to protect me? in no way.. isn't the authenticator incorporated in the main app?

that is how I bypass the bug, it does not "register" my first attempt at accessing my confirmation screen or profile but once i quit and relaunch the app it suddenly works..
