LGBT+ games being targeted... They ARE coming for your games next.
"No, they won't come for my games next..."

Hate to tell you, but they already are:

https://www.thegamer.com/adult-game-ban-affects-lesbian-lgbtq-yuri-content-itch-io-collective-shout/
Following a campaign against adult video games, Steam and Itch removed or restricted titles that contained material that payment processors objected to. The payment processors were responding to pressure put on them by the group Collective Shout, which campaigns against p*rnography. Many feared that LGBTQ+ content would be included in the bans, and now, we can see that this very much is the case.

In an expansive report from Trans News Network, numerous indie devs say that their work has been restricted or removed from Itch as part of the ban on adult content. They say that this is even the case with games that don't contain adult material, and it appears to be disproportionately affecting yuri and lesbian games.

That latter point was highlighted by journalist and content creator Ana Valens, who has been reporting on the ongoing censorship of adult material in games extensively. Sharing the report, Valens points out how an entire game jam - Toxic Yuri Game Jam - has been affected. As per the report from Trans News Network, more than half of the 200 games submitted as part of the game jam have been restricted or removed.

Is this official data? I've never seen any game that has this freedom over a community that has been boycotted
Itch hasn't attempted to put non-free adult games back up. Right now, itch hasn't banned adult content. They literally tell you how to put adult content up on the store while they work through the payment processor issue.
The source seems bad and it seems highly misleading. Lot of websites are trying to ride the trend to get any form of attention towards their niche or dying sites/channels.

Whether this specific report is accurate or not, the pattern of going after what the majority hates, then going after what only some hate, is well established and known by any student of history. It's only a matter of time.
One of the tactics of division is to go after the people cheering the previous pogrom on next; they are making an argument for their own persecution whether they like it or not, that will inevitably persuade people reading it over a long enough period of time.

You are quite capable of eroding people’s principles and beliefs. What you say can change minds. Your speech does indeed have consequences.

To the conservative mind, anything not straight and not cis is inherently sexual. As far as they're concerned sfw depictions of homosexuality may as well be pornographic.

Also it's " No they won't come for your games" because cishet people who secretly want these games gone are the main ones who claim it won't escalate.

Lgbtq people in general know this ♥♥♥♥ would have inevitably happened with our current trajectory.

By the same logic, its okay by me if they decide to remove MOBA games because I just don't like them.

There's nothing wrong with games containing homosexuality, so long as they don't contain illegal content or depict rape/incest.

Sounds great, every cloud has a silver lining I guess.

I have no problem banning illegal content, that is a given.

However content that isn't illegal, no matter how disturbing/disgusting we may find the subject I don't think it should be censored.

After all games sometimes make use of such taboo things for more then just sexual gratification, but rather utilize them to evoke outrage, sympathy, disgust, or whatever other emotion they are going for in the story. For example the F.E.A.R series or that game that was banned prior to it coming out then released for free/as shareware (sorry forget its name). Sometimes they are touching on a taboo subject for comedic effect (as in a certain bear scene in BG3).

So yeah I think censoring content just because you don't like it or what people choose to do with it in the privacy of their own homes doesn't mean it should be banned.

I would tend to agree. The only reason I mentioned rape/incest games in this context is because they're currently being outlawed by payment processors and even if they changed their minds, I doubt we'd see the removed games return.

I knew adult games existed, I didn't know rape/incest specific ones did. I didn't care much, because I would never have played them, but I also didn't care much that they were removed. But it certainly doesn't mean that everything besides illegal content should be censored.

It's disgusting to see a couple of people here show blatant homophobia regarding the alleged targeting of LGBTQ games, despite showing concern or even rage at the confirmed removal of rape/incest games.

Some people really just can't live and let live.

I agree there’s a consistency issue and it’s a portent of failure.

Everyone who wants this to actually stop needs to agree to mutual defense, imho.
