Steam update news NOT Showing up on start up
Hello,

unlike the typical question of how to remove the update news from start up, i want to ask how i can make it come up every time. i enjoy the update news pop up but since i bought a new pc and put the steam on windows start up, i noticed i havent seen the update news window at all on this pc

yes the "Notify me about additions or changes to my games. new releases and upcoming releases" is enabled in the setting, yes i did turn it off and on with restarts on each step, but nope, still it doesnt show up, and it is hard to test this specially that the update news pops once a day to my experience not every time u run steam.

but still i dont see it, i havent seen it come up by itself, and i have been manually opening it everyday

im assuming that steam being in windows startup might be an issue of not triggering these extra windows as i dont see friends list window not poping on as well despite it being open on last run. but i cant find a solution to have them open in this way, any solutions ?

on your library page, click on the home button. That restored it for me.
I've also had this issue and done what you have done, including what the previous post recommended, but all of that does not show the news bar for me. If i had to hazard a guess, the Steam sale has alot of traffic coming in and out, both in sales and people online etc, so it might be bloated atm.
All we can do usually is just wait it out, since sometimes the following day, everything will go back to normal.

TLDR: Same issue here, wait for tomorrow.

just happened to me. Not all icons and images was showing in the steam client, so I cleared the html cache directory and ran the steam://flushconfig command. That solved the images, but now the news and update banner in library is gone.
Let me know here, if anyone finds a solution.

(edit: Solution found: click Steam icon upper left corner in desktop mode and choose Exit - then restart Steam)

oh you mean the shelf thats at the top with News on updates and such?
Yeah i made a post a week or so ago about it. after a day it came back and had no issues until today, its now gone again.

Sometimes closing and restarting steam works other times it does not. Just have to hope it comes back. Its been an ongoing thing for over a month now.

it came on after like 3-4hrs last night, today its gone again.
afaik the only way is to wait and hope it comes back.

BTW its not the sale as it was doing it before any sales event was happening.
I like to have the news (since it informs you of games you own and their news and update patch's) without the need of having to have them actually installed.
