Error when trying to download an older version of a Steam game.
So I recently followed this link (https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/611h5e/guide_how_to_download_older_versions_of_a_game_on/) on how to download older versions of Steam games.

Using this, I tried to get my hands on an older version of Learn to Fly3.

However, I get this error whenever I run the command:

Depot download failed : missing app info for 589871\

Anything that I might be doing wrong? Or maybe something I could do to fix this?

You should leave spaces around a URL for it to work properly as a link, the parenthesis ( ) touching it make it not work without copying the link and editing it. ( link ) would work (link) does not.

They might only have the last previous version of the game, in which case you can usually get it by going to the BETAS tab for the game and from the dropdown list select "previous version". I had to do that a couple of times for TF2 when they had added things to the normal release to prepare for a future update (not required for then current servers) when those particular updates did NOT work for Linux or Mac.

Never mind. Found out I was putting numbers in the wrong spots. Thanks for the help, though!

You'll need to set you "Beta Participation" to "Steam Beta Settings" or something, I forgot what it's called. just go to the settings tab>Account>Beta participation and click change...

thread is 6 years old and temporarily over the years it was not working and other methods had to be used.

you also dont need to be in beta to do this. that was only necessary last year, the function is working in all clients since.

info on it:

it is probably because in the console you write "download_depot -app 322170 -depot 322171 -manifest 631879647548207429 : download a single depot" when in reality it should be "download_depot 322170 322171 631879647548207429 : download a single depot"
