So have you got your antivirus set up correctly and it's regularly updated?
I haev to ask.
What ACTUALLY happens when you try? Can you right click on the game. What EXACTLY happens.
That still makes me wonder about the virus as that is the sort of behaviour one can get.
But that does give me more info to go on, and I'm beginning to suspect your hard drive could be going wonky.
Have you tried either installing this game on another drive and seeing if it works, or have you done any drive checking of late?
I'd recommend an INTENSIVE scan, that should take a couple of hours (depending on the drive size). It will then give you a more detailed report than a quick Windows built in scan, and can even quarantine bad sectors and so on.
I am currently looking into whether it could be a virus and am launching a full system scan. The simplest solution is often the correction one after all. Thank you for your assistance thus far, after hours of scouring for insight online, I did not come across anything relating to the issue - let alone suggest it could be a virus.
Wow, I wish everyone was as logical and receptive as you!
Do let us know how you get on. I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of it eventually.
However the crash still happens, every time... I did manage to open properties once and click verify integrity game files, but it crashed at 8%... I am just at a loss. I have never hoped to have actually had an infection on a computer, and was actually disappointed that it came up clean.
I have never received a error/crash message from it, it simply stops responding.
well thats a odd one , have you change security sense last time use app or update something.
if steam.exe dont help on the antivirus exclusion list then you are in trouble.
you can try windows event viewer , not sure any here can help you without something to work with.
ofc. ask own game forum or game devs support. can be a very good idea.
ps.
feel frtee to update all drivrers. special nvidia in custom mode , and make clear install thats standard with nvidia then that run into trouble , but even i cant say its that.
I cant help but speculate that the issue is with steam somehow, as I can launch the game independently of it, but I cant wrap my head around why its only this particular game that's effected. A game I have spent countless hours on, and used the night before it stopped working, only to have it suddenly... well, just stop.
and without any crash popup or log , it almost impossible to guess on.
ps.
its actual up to you if you want try more ways to figure it out.
rename folder name.old ( same with user data if such is there. reinstall game again, this is to ruleout change or mods or as Original as possible , but that wont fix system if error comes from there.
and you still end up with best guess. ( some game devs even have own menu launcher do check bin folder if game has its .exe there. but as i recall tabletop do have own game menu and they could make same mistake as steam client and silence the crash msg. again you need to figure that out or ask them.

dont forget i dont have the game, and cant read every post at every game.
