It seems steam don't want to accept my debit card
So i have this "An unexpected error has occurred. Your purchase has not been completed. Please wait a few minutes and try again." does anyone experiencing or experienced the same problem ?, do you guys able to fix this problem ?

Thanks for the answers in advance!

Note : I have a debit card, not a credit card

is that the full message? or is there more to it like "if this problem persists, please contact Steam Support"

If not that is usually the error message you get.
yup, all is registered in my country

Great, I am also having same problem with my Debit Visa card. I used the card since 2 years ago until last Sunday. After I unbind the card and rebind then will receive same message as you and failed to bind a Visa card.

Btw, I am user from Singapore Region. Which region are you from?

This is a generic message. It does NOT mean it doesn't accept your card. It means EXACTLY as said - there is a a problem.

This is usually just it has problem communicating.

So what you can do is DO NOT keep bangning away trying, as that can trigger a 24 hour lockout.

Leave it several hours and try again prefereably when it's less busy. If it still doesn't work then ring the card provider in the morning to check everything's OK.

So I done it every day, until this morning i contact the support and this is what they answer me :

Hi there,

The payment method you are attempting to use has been restricted from use in our system.

This usually indicates that the payment method has been involved in a payment dispute or unauthorized purchasing activity on Steam.

However, we aren't able to identify the event that triggered this restriction. We only keep detailed payment information for a short time, so it is possible that the event that triggered this ban occurred some time ago.

I can't remove this restriction for you. You will need to use an alternate payment method to complete future purchases on Steam.

I tried same payment method with other store and it still worked. And i contacted bank too...Highly suspect the issue is from steam instead of my card

Well they've told you why. I thas NOTHING to do with other services. It's not restricted at your banks end. It's resited bvy VALVE so you can't use it here. They told you that.

So you have one choice - get another payment method if you want to use it here.

You can still use that elsewhere.

I'm going to necro this post because I am also from Singapore using a debit card. It seems steam is using a generic response because 2 years later, I got the same exact response as you. I continued talking but got a generic reply that essentially says "not my problem".

"As mentioned previously, we aren't able to identify the event that triggered this restriction. We only keep detailed payment information for a short time, so it is possible that the event that triggered this ban occurred some time ago.

You will need to use an alternate payment method for future purchases. You'll be able to see all available payment methods for your region during the checkout process.

If you can't use any of the available payment methods, you may want to consider using a Steam Wallet code to add funds to your account.

Steam Wallet codes are vouchers that can be used to add credit to your Steam Wallet, which is available to users in all regions. Please visit your local game store or retailer's gift card section to find Steam Wallet cards that can be added to your Steam account.

See our Steam Wallet article for more information.

Because we have provided all the information we have for your issue I'm closing this help request. If you have an unrelated issue please open a new help request and we will be happy to help."

What. The. ♥♥♥♥.

Also, my last bought item was literally less than a month ago.

Same issue. Same location. Probably the same bank too.
Support is useless with their copypaste answers.
My last purchase also less than a month ago. LUL.

Also i replaced my card thinking it was a card issue. Same thing.
Called the bank they are not aware.

My recent purchase, through PayNow, was blocked today.

I literally used that option less than 3 days ago, my first time using PayNow on steam, and they gave the same reason: "... We only keep detailed payment information for a short time."

What the hell is actually going on???

Is steam false flagging a legitimate customers now?

Hmm i have yet to use paynow.
for now im using visa from the same bank.

fingers crossed no issues yet. just tried before responding to your message.

i am not sure what steam is doing right now, as both our accounts obviously look legitimate enough.

they certainly are not keen on explaining though, i raised 2 different tickets, no resolution

i tried grabpay yesterday can use too.

if they want to lose us as a customer, i guess its their loss. hahaha.

I recently came back to Steam; my previous debit card didn't work with Steam for some reason and I ended up using both PayNow and YouTrip. Tried to buy a game today and apparently PayNow is also gone as an option lmao. My YouTrip card still works, but damn I don't want to go through so many hoops to buy a game.

Seems to be an ongoing problem in Singapore cuz i got the exact same message when I tried using the same debit card I've always used
Mvrtadha 7 Apr, 2024 @ 4:59pm
I'm in SG too and this problem happened to me too, how do I solve this?
BerBer 7 Apr, 2024 @ 8:21pm
Use anything except dbsposb master debit. Visa debit works. Grabpay works. Rest i havent try.

Write support ticket no use. I tried. Change card number also no use. I tried
