if you have it enabled in steam, then it is your settings. in the "in game" section there is an option to turn it on and off. if not there, it would depend on the game

the game that I took that screenshot is rogue company on epic games, also the in-game fps counter on steam has been disabled the whole time, the fps counter in rogue comapny settings is also disabled

hmm, do have anything else running that could possible be keeping track?

if not, try turning them on and then off again

I have checked all my processes running and I am not sure which one is doing it

Check that both the Nvidia and Xbox FPS counters are off.

So, Exprience settings for the first, Xbox game bar for the second.

It could be an AMD thing but I don’t have a AMD GPU.

According to this discussion elsewhere a green FPS counter is from Razer products

Ruke of thumb: uninstall everything from your PC you're not quite sure what it does or you're not absolutely sure you need it.
Should anything break, you can still reinstall whatever uninstalling caused things to break.
If you bought the system pre-installed, perform a clean install (there's built-in functionality for that).

Afterwards, you'll end up with way less unnecessary software than you started with. Installing as nothing as possible, just what's really needed, is good long-term practice anyway.

In all fairness though, green is the default colour for loads of FPS counters, including the default Steam one. OP basically has to do what Reboot suggested, and go through everything until they can figure out what's causing it. There are loads of possibilities, everything comes with an FPS counter these days.

That was not quite my suggestion. My suggestion was a spring cleaning event throwing out a bunch, not going through things one-by-one.

I'm betting most people will avoid an all system clean at all costs.

But if OP can't find out what's causing it by process of elimination, they're going to have to "spring clean" because there shouldn't be things running that you can't account for.

I bet the same. Just don't put things in my mouth I haven't said please that's all I want.

Steam's is only green if you tick the high contrast box. It also, as others have said, shows FPS, which the OP's image doesn't.

As for others I can only say I've used After burner which is orange and looks very different font wise.

Suggesting something else that might be causing it certainly doesn't hurt if it allows the OP to narrow down their search, maybe they don't have a Razer product but do have a similar one from another brand they can check.

While that was totally not the intention, full apologies.
