Really slow download speed
Hi, I have a problem with download speed on Steam. Since 2 years my download speed won't get higher than 160 Mb/s. When I change download regions a few times, I'm able to get my download speed to that maximum 160 Mb/s but most of the time the download speed is only 20 Mb/s. My internet download speed is 600 Mb/s. On other games launchers like Epic Games Launcher, Battle.net, EA App download speed is 500-600 Mb/s as it should be. I've tried reinstalling Steam, updating drivers, changing Ethernet cables. My ISP even changed routers in my house recently but it also didn't help. What is funny, download speed on my brothers PC is normal - 600 Mb/s, so it's really strange. Any ideas how to solve it?

Must be something in windows / firewall / steam settings i think...

I've checked my firewall and all the rules are "normal" I think. In Steam there is also nothing that could limit my download speed.

What about your own pc, netcard or its driver, and power scematic on its NIC, this is not a joke for laptop usres. ( laptop is build for power savintg desktop pc is not. )


What is funny, download speed on my brothers PC is normal

look i dont want to say anything , who has access to router have you tested then you are the only one at own router just incase shared bandwide is the issue.

I've got my own built PC, I7 9700k, Aorus Z390 Elite motherboard. All drivers are up to date.

Try downloading Dota 2, this gets the best download speeds in almost all countries.

Whatever top speed you see on that download, that's the max steam can reach based on your machine, your router and your net subscription.

Outside steam, how did you measure your download speed and where did you have it, doing what?
