How to disable steam "Profanity Filter" (Universal)

This is about forever getting rid of those pesky steam hearts text censor!

Step 1

Click on your username in the top right of the screen, for the pop down. Navigate to "Store preferences"

Step 2

Now under preferences scroll down to "CHAT FILTERING" then right beneath that is "LANGUAGE PREFERENCES" which you can just change to the 3rd option. "Do not filter strong profanity or slurs" right below is "USER GROUP PREFERENCES" just check the box saying "Do not filter text from my steam friends" for safe measure. Onto step 3 the most important step for universal application

Step 3

Furthermore just below you will see "ADDITIONAL CUSTOM FILTERED WORDS" and under "Never filter these words" type ".*" (without the quotation marks, just the period and asterisk) then click the "Add" button.

Step 4

Enjoy uncensored text steam!

So "\pL+" works too is what you're saying? Because ".*" is working for me pretty swell.

Alright I just tried "\pL+" and it works just the same as ".*" but "\pL+" was tagged green, whereas ".*" was tagged red. Weird because other than that there was seemingly no difference in effect.

I still have censoring i tried both \pL+ and .* nothing worked.

I have an weird issue where the chat filtering option is just straight up not here. Any ideas ?

Strange, those are the two that I have applied for my filtering. (Haven't thought about this for a long while but I went ahead and double checked that they are still there and I have no profanity filter i.e. I am still able to see the no no words lol)

That is strange, I'm not entirely sure as I've never had that issue. But you could maybe try logging into Steam on a web browser, then following the steps listed above once again to see if that miraculously makes the option appear.
