Steam guard blocking my sign in because my ISP has my IP is registered elsewhere
So; I'm in Florida, but my IP will say i'm in California; I've always assumed it's because of my ISP.

Today Steam Guard has now started asking which is closer to me, Florida or California. If I answer truthfully and say Florida I guess Steam assumes I am being scammed and provides options to why I am signing in. All of them are scam scenarios so I click "Other"

Sign in blocked. BUT if I lie to Steam Guard and just say California (The state I don't live in) than select "Other" as the reason Steam logs me in but cites that it may be due to a bad VPN.

I've never seen this before and it sucks. Why do I have to BS my account information to log into my account while proving it's me???

I've encountered it a few times due to my phone always being on VPN, so when I log in I get that location challenge that you also got.

Blame it on the people giving their login information away and having their accounts hijacked. Most times the hijackers are going to be logging in from a vastly different region than the user, so it's another layer of security to help thwart account takeovers.

It's more stupid for users to trade away their security for "free $100 gift card" or "vote here for my team!" or chasing those dollars at 3rd party skin sites, or whatever.
