help on removing steam market restriction
hello i saw other thread/post saying if i buy any game or fund $5 to my steam wallet it will remove it. but i don't have a credit card, and the 7/11 near my house is all out of steam gift cards. if i have a friend gift me a $5 steam gift card will that also remove the restriction? or does it have to be a purchase that i've personally made?

actually better question: what if my friend gifts me some like $0.50 game will that do it?

The funds MUST come from you. Gifted funds and gifted game DO NOT count.

well that's kinda stupid. even if i do buy a gift card from 7/11 who's to say that i'm the one who bought it

appreciate the reply tho thank you guess ill keep houding 7/11 so i can unlock my steam market lmao i have so many cases i need to sell

final question: to prevent this happening in the future i should just keep a small balance in my steam wallet so that if i ever get locked out again (1+ year without purchase) i can just purchase some $0.50 game or whatever instead of having to invest a whole $5.00 right?

Redeeming a retail physical Steam wallet card matching the denomination of your store region counts, even if someone gave it to you.

There is no minimum purchase value considering the Steam Marketplace eligibility rules. Be however aware that a successful purchase does not make you eligibile immediately. That purchase must be older than 168 hours.

alright gang so i went and got my fiancee's credit card and got myself 5 whole steam dollars. BUT now i'm worried because i looked at that pinned thread and it says the following:

You will need to spend at least $5.00 USD within the Steam store.
Some examples of purchases that grant access to these features are:
Adding the equivalent of $5 USD or more to your Steam Wallet

i live in canada so the $5 i added was $5 CAD and not $5 USD. am i cooked? do i need to start adding more money? this ♥♥♥♥ kinda crazy right just lemme use the dang market

Let's see what the thread has to say:

Each Steam purchase total will be tracked in USD. If your Steam store's currency isn't in USD, it will be tracked and converted to USD automatically using daily exchange rates.
