I can't link my phone number, please help!
Hello everyone, I have a problem where I can't link my phone number.
I've heard that this issue can be caused by Steam Guard, but I'm too lazy to turn it off and on again!
It seems that Steam Guard shouldn't affect the phone number linking process, but I'm still having problems. Here's the story: After receiving an email with a link, I clicked on it, and then a window appeared saying, "Unable to link your phone number because the authentication tool is installed on another device." There is a button at the bottom that says "Transfer the authentication tool," and when I click on it, it says "This link is outdated," and there is nothing else but the "Retry" button. After I retry, I am unable to link my phone number from either my computer or my phone, and I receive the same error.
Please help me resolve this issue.

Are you trying to move your authenticator to a new phone?

Can I transfer my authenticator to my new phone?

Yes, you can.

To transfer your authenticator to a new device, you can use either the current authenticator or an SMS code sent to your phone number. Start by installing the Steam Mobile app on your new device and signing in to your account.

If you have access to the existing authenticator, select the Move Authenticator option on Steam Mobile's Steam Guard on the new device once signed in.

If you don't have access to the existing authenticator, select the "I no longer have access to my authenticator" option when asked to confirm the sign in attempt. Follow the steps the app provides to transfer your authenticator to the new device using an SMS code sent to your phone number.

After transferring the authenticator, a 2-day trade and market restriction will be placed on your account to protect your items.

This is where the problem lies. I didn't change my old device to a new one, so I don't have anywhere to transfer my authenticator.
